For all of you that are into coin bending (and can pull off a convincing finger palm), imagine how cool it'd be to pop out the middle of a "borrowed" pound coin, put it back, and then return the coin to your spectator for inspection (and then watch them try to replicate your feat for the rest of the night). Surely it's possible for somebody to manufacture/adapt the necessary gimmick for such a feat.

There, magicians from Canada, New Zealand and Australia bemoaned their "plastic money" - polymer banknotes which fold differently from the cotton ones we're used to and are harder to damage or destroy, which has a knock-on effect on all kind of tricks. And, of course, we're getting those, too, in 2016. Clearly there'll be a change in the way that a lot of magic featuring banknotes has to be done, too, over the coming years.

I live in Canada and now have to adapt to the plastic money. Not only do I hate it for magic purposes I hate it for everything else. And so does the Canadian public. Nobody likes the bloody things. The main problem is that the notes stick together and it is very easy to pay someone $40 instead of $20. The bills can do perfect double lifts better than any magician.

The recently appointed new Governor of the Bank of England decided we should go over to plastic notes, he's a Canadian.......

Apparently we change to polymer £5 and £10 notes in 2016 and 2017 - and the notes will be 15% smaller than the current paper notes.

Hmmm might be on to something there. Multiplying bills in thin air anyone? For mentalism will be interesting to see how the new serial numbers are presented ect. Also with a clear portion and possibly some clever folding it make be quite easy to p**k. One definite upside of these new durable bills though is when switching them it's won't be as obvious if you ever have to switch a grubby one for a clean one.
