The Magic Show Story

Postby Mandrake » May 26th, '15, 22:30

ITV1 Saturday May 30th, 6.30pm and on ITV1+1* an hour later.

Stephen Mulhern delves into the history of magic and magic shows with help from Paul Daniels and Debbie McGee, Penn & Teller, Dynamo, Darcy Oake and no doubt a load of clips of other performers. Along the way he recreates David Nixon's effect of sawing Anita Harris in half - featuring Anita Harris!

Well worth watching methinks.

* Please note that ITV 1+1 is not the same thing as ITV2.......

A good show, sadly the topic was far too large to be adequately covered in a 1 hour (actually 47 minutes net) programme but good to see some different clips of the old time masters of magic as well as the more recent rising stars.

Love watching old clips from veteran magicians.. David Nixon was probably the first magician i ever saw on the TV, just remember watching him as a little lad.. Did enjoy the show. :D

When I was a child, I was a "budding David Nixon", according to my relatives. Later, I became a "budding Paul Daniels". There is no modern equivalent - at least, I hope not.
