Your Favourite Gimmick?

Postby MrCat » May 24th, '15, 21:08

Hey folks,

I just took Extreme Burn 2 out for a primary test run the last couple of days, and wow I really properly melted brains! It was totally awesome, I mean the kind of reactions you always dream of :D Wohooooo Oh Yes! I was a bit skeptical and nevrous to start with but it always amazes me what people don't notice. The first was my sister, who was totally blown away and liked the fact it's "like proper real magic" as opposed to 'let me show you a card trick', and also the ultimate money conjuring that everybody wants to believe in. I think this may be the first gimmick I really truely love to the fullest. I'm going to use this alot! :D

So I was just wondering on your favourite and most well used gimmick that makes people really believe in magic, jaws drop, stunned silences, and so forth?

My sis also likes '4 coins through the table' as it defies the laws of physics in the same kind of magical fashion but I'm talking gimmicks only just now.

The only two I use regularly are a 50p/£2 coin unique and a good old fashioned TT!

It has to be the TT, though I do also have a collection of wallets ...

The Mesmer Gimmick (aka Dual Control) is also pretty versatile, though I don't currently have one installed.

For me its got to be a clear three way force bag. Just thinking about it, its amazing how much of my stage act is based around that innocent little bag.

Maybe the most used is a £2/50p coin unique!

And I love Imagination coins, so I'm fond of the gimmick for that to...

Yes, it's a very useful device. Mine (from Supreme) came with a Fogel booklet providing thirty routines.

One double back card. but keep in mind it is not the gimmick or the trick that makes the magic. It is the performer. Take credit for yourself not the effect.

Indeed! I was justcurious as to what gimmicks people were using regularly, tried and trusted. I used to pretty much always have a double face card in my breast pocket, must get back into that habbit!

Originally I wrote a little piece about types of gimmicks, building them and their advertising videos haha, but then I got rid of it again and thought this would be more fun. And lo, someone else has touched upon advertising recently :D
