Anverdi rising card repair

Postby Paultempleents » Jun 18th, '15, 09:57

I have an original anverdi jumbo rising card. It's the two way version. Without giving too much away it is not working! I have replaced all of the consumable parts required but still nothing. I know that historically this was not always a reliable prop but it would be great to get it operational again as it is such a collectable item. I think I purchased it about 25 years ago from Tony Curtis.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to a techie who can either repair/service it.

Cheers

Ah Anverdi. The best I can offer is to start with your toaster. That is right, take your toaster apart and put it back together, only turn it into a satallite. Once you can achieve that you may be able to figure out how to repair an Anverdi item.

I know, I am no help whatsoever. But I was feeling bad that nobody was responding.

Just had a very helpful and speedy reply from Tony. With a couple of suggestions.

Unfortunately he is unable to assist with the repair as the only engineer he knew that could do it has now died. Looks like I may have to find an electronics geek to have a tinker with it now as nothing ventured nothing gained.

There is also John Gaughn. Not sure how to reach him seeing as I've never done so personally. But he is the Master builder of our time.

If you need an electronics expert then your local Maplins may be able to suggest a few names to try.

I used a wiz kid from the world of radio controlled model cars. He fixed and tuned it in for me for a pint. Look up Model Car Clubs in your area.

Jon Thompson (author of Naked Mentaliam and Electronics for Magicians) is a serious electronics whizz and also magician so might be a good person to get in touch with and see if he can help out.

He used to be a member here as Tomo but he's not been around for quite a while. He also used to post on the cafe but I've not been there for years so no idea if he's still there or not.
