Or card counting. :?

These proofs are maths 'puzzles' and therefore adhere to the topic heading.

Take that, non-maths-geek type person.

Tone - I first saw the proof in a long drawn out illustrated kind of way, so that would be why i considered it to be so long. I kinda follow yours... But it looks like you've only shown that there are as many numbers between 0-1 as there are integers. One more step could have added that for the irrational numbers between 0 and 1, there is no equivalent on the integer scale, therefore decimals win.
Although maybe i missed where you made that point. At the very least you've helped me see it in a simpler light.

Sorry about that, MB. I thought that I had covered this when I wrote:the same logic applies to any positive numbers, whether integers or not.

The "number greater than 1" to "number between 0 and 1" correlation works for integers, non-integers irrationals and transcedentials (eg 7, 7.3, sqrt 7 and pi) as a one-to-one correlation. There is another elegant way to demonstrate this but I don't want to hack IAIN off totally :D

I havn't seen the "women are evil one" does it run along the same lines as the "money is the route of all evil" 'proof'?

Ah nice, that makes two of us.

Its based on money being the route of all evil, as well as a couple of other well known facts/phrases.

http://www.anvari.org/fun/Gender/Women_are_Evil.html

That's basically it. It could perhaps be displayed better, but that was the first link i found.

Being a total nerd I've just spotted this one and feel compelled to add my tuppence worth. Surely the correct phrase is 'The love of money is the root of all evil'? Or something like that? (OK, I'll go back to sleep, sorry...)
