At the time of writing there have been 19 views of this thread so any feedback or comments would be very welcome. I've watched all nine shows and am gobsmacked at the array of famous names and talent that were involved in the programmes. OK Franz Harary looked a little different but, hey, this was late 80's/early 90's so I think we can forgive the big hair and perms! Certainly those shows couldn't be made today, far too expensive, yet way back then they managed it. Strange to see Simon Mayo involved in the first few programmes, it's a pity we can't see shows 4-6 to see how that change happened and when Arturo took over.

There's a list of transmission dates, and artists appearing, on wikki at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Best_of_Magic

So what are the presenters doing these days? Well, Simon Mayo is, of course, still, presenting on Radio 2 – more info via wikki at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_Mayo, Geoffrey has more or less retired but changed his career several times over the years. He gave a great lecture at the Leamington and Warwick Magic Society a while ago as well as getting a standing ovation for his lecture at Blackpool a few years back. More info at his website http://www.geoffreydurham.com/ Anthea has popped up on TV in various shows but nothing like the frequency of the earlier years. Her website shows a different focus - https://www.antheaturner.com/. And what of Arturo? Well, he’s still working and touring with a new show under way this year. Someone who saw his show in Italy a couple of years ago told me he was faster and even more entertaining than ever – nice one Arturo! http://brachetti.com/

Confession time - the Max Maven routine using various weapons and methods of murder really caught my attention when it was first broadcast and, as I'd recorded it (on VHS!) I was able to play it back over and over and write down the details. I've performed that routine many times since and in formats from table top to cabaret stage. The version I do is very different to the one shown but the essence is the same!
