Mentalism/Magic Audio Books

Postby thelearner » May 19th, '13, 09:50

Hi. I spend a lot of time driving and would like to fill this wasted time with the opportunity to do some more learning. Preferably in mentalism, but I'm open to other areas of magic too. Does anyone know where I might find sites that sell audiobooks on magic and mentalism? Downloads would be prefered over CD, but I'm not too fussy. Also, are there any audio books that anyone would recommend?

Many thanks for any help that you can give.

I did a swift Google around but there seems to be nothing offered on Mentalism as an audio file - I saw your similar request on The Cafe but there seems to be no luck there either! I'm not sure how an audio file on mentalism would work, other than to cover some of the very basic ideas - the Grey Elephant in Denmark kind of thing. Would it be a possibility for you to buy a book and you, or some kind friend, read and record the text onto CD or MP3 and play that as you drive?

Mandrake - Thanks for having a little look for me. I also struggled to find anything. I feel that most books could work in audio format. It's just a different way to take in information.

FTHO - Fantastic, thanks. That's exactly the sort of thing that I'm looking for.

Anyone else, please keep the ideas coming.

Whilst not magic instruction I found Derren Brown's autobiography "Confessions of a Conjurer" really fascinating. I've read the book as well as listening to it being read by Derren, I tend to go back to it every few months.

The Night Circus is a very nice book set in a magical circus. Total fiction BUT it did help me put on a themed show :)

This tends more towards the bizarre than the straight mental, and it's a podcast rather than an audiobook, but it is great:

They've both already been mentioned but anything from Bob Cassidy or Kenton is well worth a listen.

Might also be worth looking into audio interviews: https://soundcloud.com/peter-burnside-5 ... ew/s-iulo6" target="_blank
