58 yesterday and still going strong.

Postby Senor Fabuloso » Jul 9th, '19, 12:34

Yesterday was my bday and while I celebrated with friends and family, the show must go on. Playing to a packed house of 100 people as I do 4 nights a week, I couldn't help but think " man, I've been at the stuff for 50 years and still I love it so." My mentalism career started about 2 years ago and I have to admit, it really suits what I'm trying to do with my performances. See I want to empower people and help them to believe, that all things are possible. That through our shared experiences we are one but still unique, in how we express those experiences which is what makes each and everyone of us special.

I've made my way around a few boards and haven't yet found one, I feel totally comfortable in. Seems that when you know your stuff, peoples opinions get in the way of learning. They see you as arrogant, when what is really going on, is confidence. There is a big difference between theory and experience, with the latter being of more use to others. However everybody learns at there own pace and trying to take shortcuts, will get you nowhere. So my advice is to put the time in. Learn how to create magic moments, instead of doing tricks. And elevate our art to the respected and useful place it once was. It's all our responsibility as magicians to do so. Anything less is just hackery.

I hope I'm met with love and kindness on this board and that commentar,y is positive. To much bickering, on the web. Remember the old adage from our childhood. "If you can't say something nice don't say anything at all." When this common sense rule is broken, all manor of chaos brakes loose. I'm to old for such nonsense. So lets be positive and loving to one another and I'll help when I can? Maybe even learn a thing or two.

Thanks for being here and providing a place for magicians, to learn and grow.

Peace.

Thank you Mandrake

Given your screen name I know you know, who he was and how important his legend not only was to the craft, but to comic books as well?

I remember you, old chap. You got terribly excited when somebody on the Magic Cafe who did psychic readings said he charged $200 for an hour session. Naturally, I agree with you. Quite disgraceful.

Hi and welcome to TM :)

Happy belated birthday - I'm not too far behind ya :P

EDIT: talking of birthdays, you've just reminded me to edit my profile to update my age, even though my birthday was in March >.<

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

Mark

there are people who think we are one in the same person. At least, that is what I have been told.

MB

I'm guessing your a product of the 60s as well? With a screen name like Moonbeam, your parents had to be hippies?

Thank you both for the salutations :)

Thanks again everyone.

To the staff, is there anyway of bypassing the acceptance of a post, to just post to the board directly?

It's hard to stay current with conversations, when replies are a day or two away.

Good question and one we haven't dealt with for quite some time. Unfortunately it's an automatic thing designed to prevent posts by spammers who just join to promote iffy stuff like knock offs, fake goods, drugs and porn etc. Usually I log in more often to check and disapprove/approve posts but at the moment I'm away from home and can only connect by phone. The good news is that this feature only lasts for the first five posts then your messages go straight on view. I see you have four posts to your credit at the time of writing so not long to go!
