If it's the one I am thinking of then look for Pual Curry's "out of this world" There is a nice version on Derren's video "Devil's Picture Book"

It's a good OOTW since it involves only two piles instead of four or six?

Really I think this is a differnt method than the one in the DPB or mabye not... I really need to see that episode again to see any sneaky moves or wahtever

The only versions I have seen have only involved two piles, though changing markers halfway in some.

Certainly the dead/alive I remember seeing is the same as the one on DPB, the 'move' is off camera but you can clearly see the exact same relaxation at the same off-beat moment that Derren advises on the video.

If you watch the DVD back again, and watch the Dead/Alive routine right to the end of the scene, you'll notice that Derren leans back in his chair, shakes his head in disbelief at what has just happened and say "Well that was, that was out of this world. Thank you."

The man's a genius.

Yes, I noticed his little reference to. Wish he would do some more hints like that!

I had forgotten that, my flat mate wondered why I burst out laughing at the end of that routine!

The effect is Out Of This World except that the spectator, rather than sorting face-down playing cards into reds and blacks without knowing how they did it, sorts some photos into a pile of the living and a pile of the dead. Nice spooky touch.

What you call heroism is just an expression of this fact; there is never a scarcity of idiots
