Hey,
I just got this effect, and I wanted very much to do my part and post a review. So here it goes:
The Ultimate Card Through Window
You have all seen it before, a card is selected and then lost in the deck. The Deck is then thrown at the window. When all the cards settle the selected card is stuck to the glass on the opposite side of the window.
Cost
-$40 for an instant download
-$45 plus shipping for DVD
(Too expensive if you ask me)
Difficulty
3=Some sleights used
Review
There are a couple of variations:
• Card Through Window Classic
(The classic effect you've seen on TV over and over again)
• Card to Wallet
(or to pocket, or inside shoe)
• Card to Cell Phone
(Seriously, card ends up inside of the cell phone)
• Card to TV
(Behind the glass and all. Use any TV or computer)
• Card Fly Though Window
(doesn't stick, just flies right through the window)
• Deck Through Window
(yup, you can smash the entire deck through the window, VISUALLY)
• Visual Card Through Window
(You pass the card visually through the window, right in front of the specs)
• Wall Stab
(Card ends up stuck right into the wall)
• Card Through Table
(using a glass table, you pass the card right through)
• Deck Through Table
(using a glass table, you pass the deck right through)
The above effects are discussed in the following four categories:
Plants
Helpers
Gimmicks
Sleights
Negatives:
Of these sections the only one which I found of value was the gimmick section. It was the only one which was explained in any detail, and was obviously the whole point behind the DVD. The other sections just kind of tip their hat to the methods behind the effect.
Eric James did not impress me as a performer. He is obviously a person who put a lot of work and thought into this idea, but his own interpretation of the trick had something to be desired.
A lot of the effects on the demo are only visually stunning in the first moment, and do not hold up to investigation.
Positives:
I WAS impressed with two or three of the ideas mentioned in the gimmick section and plan on trying to use them.
Overall
It was too expensive and in hindsight I wish I had just thought more about how I could have done this effect myself instead of spending money on this. BUT having spent money on it, I am excited with a few new directions to explore.
All in all, I think this thing would need to come down in price about 50% before it would be a good value. Hope this helps!
P.S. oh also if you have any additional questions I would be happy to help as I can.
