Infusion - Geir Bratlie

Postby ace of kev » Dec 27th, '05, 02:06

The Effect

A borrowed coin and a borrowed glass are shown. The magician taps the glass 1, 2, 3 times....... and the coin melts through the glass and can be shown inside :D

Cost

$15.95 for the DVD and $14.95 for the Download from Ellusionist

Difficulty
1-10 (1 being easy, 10 being advanced)

6 - Requires some practice

Review

Well, this trick is simply amazing. I rarely venture away from cards, but this was well worth it  It does require some practice, but I could show it to my mum within 15 minutes or practice. Of course it wasn't perfect, but she was still gob-smacked :D

The great thing about this trick is that there are no duplicate coins. The coin can be sealed, or you can even use a ring!

Overall

9/10

I don't think that it should cost as much, but it is definately worth the money. The reason I didn't give it a 10/10 is that it is a tiny bit angle sensitive, but if you are performing to only two or three people then you will be fine :D

Well, there is my first ever review :D

The mo st beautiful thing is - he's norwegian :)

Well seriously, it's a really nice effect, but I think it's worth every penny. It's very hard to evaluate the price on tricks/secrets, but in this case, I really find it worth the pennies. Infact, i would maybe rate this as difficultlevel of 7. It's hard, and it requires alot of practice to handle this as Geir does. It's beautiful watching him doing it. Go get it folks !

Shorter cup??? You can use any cup and any coin, and I was doing it with a Cadbury's Rose this morning

I figured it out from watching it aswell  Geir performs it brilliantly, and it shows a demo of a guy who has only had 5 days practice at it, so I've got a sore hand now from banging the cup against it sooo many times :D

I am the best with the flat palm one usually, but I do occasionally do it by holding the coin from the side. I think that one is more impressive and looks better IF DONE RIGHT.

Also, it is a bit angle sensetive but it has yet to be a problem for me. I found a few things to expand the angle somewhat. Seems to have fixed some of the problem.

I quite like this. Its not that hard to do. A couple of hours reflective practise in front of a mirror and I was ready for an audience and if not exactly blown away they all looked suitably puzzled. Probably best to do this a couple of times, once flat and once holding the coin sideways and then move on to a coin vanish or something else. I'll probably use this but end up using it as part of a bigger routine.

the problem with this effect is that you have to get it exactly right and fluent, just how Geir does it. I only say this because when i use to perform this trick, the people i showed it to just said it was just fast hands. I guess thats all it is but the way Geir does it is so smooth it looks like real magic.

hmmm. but when i saw geir do it, it also looked like fast hands. i think the thing is that people arnt impressed when the coin "goes" thru the glass. its how it managed to get in there with fast hands.

Cmon it is fast hands. Think about it, you cant exactly do this if you do it slowly can you? And if theres no gimmick coin or glass then its just pure slieght of hand work.
