Nun None! by Michael Mode

Where to buy
Alakazam £7

The Advertising.
The magician produces a coin to illustrate a simple math problem. As he removes the coin from his hand, he asks a spectator, "What is one minus one?" "None!" the spectator confirms. The magician then opens his hand a small nun is produced!

Difficulty. 2/5
1=Even I can do it, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

Yes a sleight is used, but I doubt there is one easier.

Review.
This is not something I would have bought. It was a Christmas present that I initially dismissed, but since I got it out again, I have to confess that I haven’t had so much fun with magic for ages. I haven’t had the opportunity yet to perform it in a live situation but I will.

My initial thoughts were that this would be a very nice “between tricks” piece. In fact I nearly said as such in the “between tricks” thread here at TalkMagic, but I am now even considering it as an opener as I suspect it could be a very nice ice breaker.

Rating.
Effect/item: 10/10, Quality of goods: 8/10, Value for money: 8/10

Bottom Line.
This isn’t earth shattering, this is a quick amusing piece of magic, but it has to be said it gets very good reactions. Reactions far better than I would have ever suspected.

If nothing else it makes me think that I should be looking around at everyday object more and inventing this kind of thing myself.

Well done Michael Mode for the idea.

Thanks for the review; I saw it on Alakazam and dismissed it as a cute quick bit, in which the gag was better than the magic itself, but it seems I was wrong.

I might get it, it's certainly a nice quick piece of magic.

I've just realised that I gave this a difficulty rating of 2. It should have been a three as there is one sleight - but as I mentioned it IS very easy so don't let that put you off.

If nothing else it's an easy introduction to sleights and may encourage you to do more coin work, but if you ARE experience, don't let that put you off either - as it does play so well.

Also, it DOES need some practice in front of a mirror, to get your angles right. Don't be lulled into doing this straight out of the packet )as tempting as that is).

Apart from that I stand by everything I (and MagicDiscoMan) says. This is a peach of an effect.

Forgot I had this and just ran into this old review....thought I would bump it up and throw in my two cents.

It is a wonderful little opener/ice breaker and should not be dismissed for the amount of money invested and time spent practicing, it is a great fun value.
