jay sankey-anytime, anywhere

creator= the one and only sankey

price= i buy all my tricks and things from magictricks.co.uk and they sell it for 19.99, not sure how cheap it is anywhere else.

difficulty= 2 -
i think this is fair as some of the tricks are plain simple although some are a bit more complex and require a bit of practise.

effect/s=
on this dvd you learn 30 plus routines, including an impromptu torn and restored signed card, and a very neat handling for a type of 'coins across' routine. magnetised-i feel this is kind of a nice twist to the ambitious card, soft spot- a key melts of a borrowed keyring and then gets 'shot' back on, there are far to many effects to list 1 by 1.

my opinion=
right, where to begin, to start with i'd like to say that this was the first product of jay's that i have purchased but since receiving and watching this nifty dvd i have ordered a few more items from his store. jay is an incredibly funny guy and his humour shines through on this dvd. the tricks themselves are impressive my personal favourites are his handling of the signed torn and restored card, as the dvd explains this is anytime anywhere, the method is unbelievabley simple yet very hard hitting, also the trick on the demo video with the elastic band passing through the pen, that plays out exactly as seen i have left people dumbfounded with this one and it is a pleasure to watch even as the performer. i would also like to 'show a bit of love' for magnetised, the general effect performer draws a magnet on the back of a playing card, the spec then selects a card and the performer goes on to explain how this magnet will attract his card, surely enought the card with the magnet drawn on is placed on top of the deck and the chosen card appears beneath the magnet card, the card is then placed in the middle again, and alakazam the card is once again under the magnet, and for a killer finish the third time the card is put in the middle, the magnet fails to work, or so it would seem, the performer explains that the magnet is incredibly powerful and turns over the magnet card to discover that the chosn card has been transfused on to the magnet card (basically the magnet is on the back of the specs card). personally I'm not much of a coin fan but there are a few coin tricks i would use on here. this dvd really does have it all mentalism, cards, rubber bands it even has a book test, which is also very powerful. the dvd itself is well made and the quality is top notch. if you are looking for a dvd so that you never have to say 'sh*t i left my magic at home' or you just want to learn a few cool tricks, then this is for you, and for twenty quid it's a bloody steal. not one of the effects on here is weak and jay even gives a few tips on how to work you routine with impromptu magic. and like the name states all of these really can be done anytime anywhere, and every one, with borrowed objects.

And look! It contains a coins across routine!

Could this be what you were waiting for so you could enter the Feb 2006 competition?

Thanks for the review

Nice review, but...paragraphs?
It's very hard to read.

I have had this DVD for a while and this review made me look at the magnetic card again. I hadn't given it enough consideration, but it does truly provide motivation for an ambitious card routine and so I have found a bit of love for it.
As for the rest of the DVD it is slightly misleading to say that it is all impromptu. Some of it does require a bit of set up, however most of this is easy and quick (such as finding a duplicate coin and noting the date!)

The coin switch and in the hands date reading on a coin are great.
The two phase coin in bill routine kills (I used to use the 2 way toss from Rev Coin Magic and this extends it).
Not keen on elastic band in pen cap, but I'm going to try it based on the above review.
Three card monte routine has potential (includes a sort of everywhere/ nowhere segment that is nice if you don't use this in another routine).
Match routines are great (3 match vanish and t&r match)

All in all a great DVD but be prepared for a little set up.
