The Effect.
The spectator is shown two Rabbits, a mummy rabbit and a daddy rabbit, and they are asked to select one. The one they select is placed in their open hand and the magician closes the spectators hand making it into a fist – telling the spectator to be very careful as the mummy and daddy rabbit are very much in love and don’t like being apart (barf).
The other rabbit is then placed into the magicians pocket, and after a short pause they ask the spectator to check on the rabbit they selected. The spectator will open their hand to find that there in fact both mummy and daddy rabbits are still there.
The magician says words to the effect of “uh oh – I thought this might happen, lets see if your other hand can control them better”. The magician then takes the two rabbits and places them in the spectators other hand, and again closes the spectators hand into a fist.
When the spectator is asked to open their hand a second time, to check that they are still both there, they find that the mummy and daddy rabbit have now be joined by 5 baby bunnies.
Difficulty. 2/5
1=I can do it, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)
Fairly easy. There is some sleight of hand, but bearing in mind it is with sponge rabbits – it is probably amongst the easiest going.
Review.
This is obviously geared towards children, but the likkle rabbits are so cute that it never fails to impress. Even when I have performed this to adults they have still been very surprised at the shear quantity of rabbits in their hand at the end of the trick. They all expect something to happen, usually for rabbits to disappear, but seeing the look on their faces when they see their hands overflowing with bunnies is always very satisfying.
Rating. Effect/item: 8/10, Quality of goods: 10/10, Value for money: 7/10
Bottom Line.
Ok, its not Rocket surgery how this is done, but its still quite impressive to perform as the spectator never really expects to see all the rabbits at the end.
If performing to kids I would without a doubt always have this with me. With just adults – well, I guess it depends on the adults (women do seem to find them adorable though).
