4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

Review: So far I've attempted four routines and have recieved my best reactions to date. To top that they were much easier to learn than I expected. The teaching is usual comedic performance by Sankey. Those of you who do not like his style will not like this one either. I personally loved it. Each trick begins with a performance, then the teaching with some handy hints. In between tricks, Sankey provides some wise words of advice to use while perfoming.

Overall. Four thumbs up. I think it is a fantastic DVD, particularly because it gave me a wide range of "magic" that I can perform "anywhere/anytime", which I think is a mark of a good magician. Post a message if you want a further description of a particular trick, I just didn't feel like writing a ten page description.

I also like this DVD I'd call it more a 3-4 as none of the tricks are self working. I think its great I don't find all the advice useful because sometimes I think Jay puts extra advice in because he feels he should. Not many moves are actually taught on this DVD so you'd have to quite proficiant alreaddy. Off the top of my head tilt and mercury card fold are taught but very briefly.

Good review mate, cheers.

I'm dying to watch this DVD again. I bought it some time ago and let a friend borrow ir (he lent me Ninja 1 - fair swap I thought) and I haven't seen him for AGES to get it back.

I don't know why but I took a real likeing to "Departure Time". I use it alot.

Quote:
Departure Time
-The performer goes through the deck saying he is going use some cards. As he goes he is handing cards to the spectator as he deems necessary. As he finishes he shows the cards he needed which are the four aces which he counts and and hands al; of the remaining cards to the spectator. He asks the spectator "which do you prefer...red or black?" For example we shall say the spectator says red. He makes a magical movement...and when he opens his hand all that is left is the two red aces. The two black have disappeared. The real magic moment is when the two black aces are found face up the packet of face down cards the spectator has been holding all along.

I reckon (for those of us who have bought it) if we all write a description of our favourite effect on the DVD then we can cover all of the best one's on there and save the Carpal Tunnel of our friend Archimage on requests. Just describe the effect you like the most and anyone considering buying it will soon have a good description of the best tricks on the DVD.[/list]

if you seen his other dvds, you tend to see a simularity between his tricks (almost sorta repetative) but the other hand this dvd is where i started off magic and learned alot of stuff
but theres no selfworking tricks and pretty much all of them need basic skills of card magic

I'm surpised you say this. The reason for Sankeys repetetiveness are because he likes to minimise the work involved. Therefore (particulaly with cards) he will take often just one sleight and make a trick from it. His "Mark Of The Devil" from Sankey Very Much is a perfect example. One Vernon Substitute Transfer and the trick is done.

If you are performing a 2 hour set for someone then you will have trouble using only stuff you've learned from sankey DVD's. However if you're just doing 5-10 minutes at a time (restaurant magic style) the stuff from Sankey's DVD's will not only last you an evening, it will probably last you a lifetime.

I'm a Sankey fan, I confess it now.
However some of the stuff on this DVD is so so. And some just isn't impromptu.
I think the new twist on the bill in note is excellent (adding a second phase) and seed money is good.
Some useful stuff there like the perfect switch
However, overall, not amazing
