Eye to Eye

Ok here goes for my first review. This is a review from a complete novice point of view.

Eye to Eye is available from emagictricks at the following link:
http://www.emagictricks.co.uk/product_i ... ts_id=4174

It is priced at £22.50

This is one of those tricks that particularily appeals to those with limited skill as it really can be performed by pretty much anyone, within minutes of opening the packet.

The effect: You offer a small plastic ball to your subject and ask them to put their hands behind their back and put the ball into one of their hands before bringing them back into view, fists clenched and no possible way of seeing which hand the ball is in. You will tell them which hand the ball is in with 100% accuracy, of course you can never get it wrong, because their eyes give them away every time.

I reckon it's even better for the average female to perform than male, due to it being much easier to hide the gimick. I'll leave that to your imagination

Overall a pretty simple yet potentially powerful little trick, that even a novice like me can perform.

Eye To Eye

This is an effect that really does fry them!

However I disagree that it can be performed within 5 minutes of somebody recieving it, I was fortunate enough to see Charles Gauchi perform this at his lecture in Cambridge earlier this year.

Yes this is his baby so it is bound to be performed well but he had a totally different handling for the routine which is a lot stronger than the one supplied with the ball.

It is not just a case of lets guess which hand the ball is in, presentation is everything with an effect like this if you dont want to get rumbled by the spectator.

If you like the effect it really is worth investing in his latest version which uses a solid silver greek coin instead of the ball, its not cheap but it is a top quality prop which looks less suspicious than the small ball & the extra something is a lot more powerful than in the original version.

If you email Charles Gauchi I am sure he will supply you with the new routine.

Also if you like Eye to Eye, it is also worth considering another 2 of his effects: The Houdini Card Mystery & Body Language which get fantastic reactions from Magicians & also laypeople.

Good review but please ensure that you put some more time into your presentation as this really is such a quick effect to learn but not to perform, I know its like christmas whenever a new effect arrives in the post, as soon as I got this I was really tempted to just go out and perform it but I sat back waited & played around with it for some more time.

Hope this helps

Cheers all.
:D

I agree with you on all that roman59. "eye to eye" is a great effect - but it really does need a good "credible" presentation, otherwise it is given away big time.

In saying that it is a trick that you can really have a lot of "derren brown" type fun with. Milk it for all it's worth.

:D I thought you said magicians and lazypeople at first :D
I totally agree that the "Houdini Card Mystery" is an excellent trick. Really great if you like a lot of patter with a trick. Has that been reviewed yet? I haven't seen Body Language, but if it is as strong as the other two, then it will probably be a winner.

Hi Roman59,

Yea I'm sure your right and it's all about presentation, however my point about doing it within 5 minutes was if using the simple presentation that comes with the trick. Personally I have extended the presentation, though obviously it won't be anything like as good as Charles Gauchi or indeed any profesional.

So where can I get the coin version and how much is it?

Eye to Eye

The Coin version of Eye to Eye can be obtained from
www.alakazam.co.uk I think I am right in saying its £50.00

I know its not cheap but it is made in sterling sliver & it is really a beautiful prop, I am sure bananafish will back me up on that one he was with me when I bought it & has seen me perform with it.

Hope this helps if you want any more info pm me.

Cheers
:)

I think you'll find the silver coin and the silver medallion versions are the same, in which case £50 sounds like one heck or a bargain.

The medallion has a moon on one side & a sun on the other.

The greek coin is like a greek coin with a face on one side & writing on the other.

They both do the same job but the greek coin looks better.

Cheers
