I see your point but I don't own any books on stage magic and to be honest I don't want to so what happens if someone wants to be vanished from inside a box. The same applies to Coin Magic and Mentalism etc.

I think card magic will provide a good base for me to gain confidence and learn. Its also very easy to carry a pack of cards around so I can do magic anywhere.

Indeed and RRTCM is, in fact, (unsolicited opinion) the best place to start!

RRTCM is an excellent place to begin, I would also reccomend Having a look at Karl Fulves' Self Wotking series of books. There are many different volumes (cards, mentalism etc) and they are a good grounding in both effects and theory. I got given a Copy of Self Working Card Tricks about 7 years ago and still refer to it.

I got the book and cards today :D

Not going to do it properly yet as I'\ve got an exam tomorrow I need to revise for (eurgh). I did have a quick read over the first couple of pages though, I think being left handed could cause problems :D

Any tips from fellow lefties or using this book and cards? :D At the moment I'm just reading through it and interpreting it with my left hand and hoping it works :D (I would like to add at this point that left is by far the superior hand)

I agree wholeheartedly, lefties rule! (And it's easier in tennis too.)

When you're reading instructions for card magic, unless you have one of the few effects with leftie instructions, you will have mentally to replace every "right" with "left" and vice versa. Also, some peeks don't work because the index is on the wrong corner of the stupid card! Thank god for Waddingtons.

Waddingtons are a British bridge card with four indices instead of the usual two which means that you can use them for routines that need a peek. I don't use them much but they are nice cards.
