They get to your computer to play, so can't you just dig them out of your temporary internet files? I haven't tried it with these but it iswhat I have always done in the past when I can't directly save something.

Getting files to save on your hard drive

Open the page with the video.

Right click on the video then click on the Properties part of the menu.

At the bottom of the box that then opens you will see "location" and a long string of letters beginning http ... and ending ... wmv (usually, also mpg, avi, mov).

Highlight this string with your mouse and copy with CTRL C

Paste (CTRL V) this string into your browser address bar (top left on your screen)

Hit enter.

Windows Media Player (usually) will now download and play the file. Wait till it's all downloaded then in the File Menu top left choose the Save As option.


I know this sounds like a lot of work but it really isn't.

Thanks for the solution to saving to the hard drive. I stumbled upon this technique whilst "playing" around so I've been saving the clips to my hard drive for a little while now. I had tried looking in the Temp files but couldn't see anything which I vaguely recognised and didn't fancy looking at every file that's in there (there were loads, despite clearing them out regularly!).

There are several ways to save videos, you can find the one that works best for your browser or video program.

Method 1:

-Install and use Mozilla Firefox, a free web-browser.
-When you see a video you want just right-click and select "Page Info". There will be a section that shows all the media files on the webpage and allows you to save them to your hard drive.


Method 2:

Go to your temporary internet folder after viewing the video. It is usually located under C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

Sometimes you have to "unhide" the local settings folder. You may also need to use Internet Explorer to increase the amount of hard disk space used for temp files.


Method 3 (more work, but ALWAYS reliable):

1. Save the following:

2. Paste the text into 'Notepad'

3. Click 'File > Save As'

4. For "Save as type:", choose "All files"

5. Name the file "GetFile.htm"

When I see a video or file I want, I Right-click on the webpage and select "View Source". The webpage code opens in notepad and I do searchs for "wmv", "avi", "mpg" etc to find the true, html location of the video.

Paste the html location into GetFile.htm (opened with notepad) right between the quotes. Then open the GetFile.htm in the web browser, right click on the link, and select "Save Target As".

After some practice you can get any video quite easily from the code relating to the Media Player. I promise you will love this if you give it a try.
