Actually, I'd never do something like this to a layman. They'd get bored! I think.

Was it my imagination or were most of those cuts false (or at least retaining a top stock)? If they were there are plenty of fantastic effects you could do with these cuts. I think one of the most impressive effects that can be done is Sam The Bell-Hop and when you throw in some fancy false cuts and shuffles it is mind blowing (watch Bill Malone's version! GOOD GRIEF!). However, be careful not to over do the cuts for no apparent reason. It is very easy to bore people with fancy cuts and flourishes (just look at Brian Tudor or Cap Casino) but if they serve a purpose (ie to create the illusion of undeniable, uncontrolled mixing) they can make a good effect fantastic.

Overall a very good video, well done. The only thing to mention is fluidity, but that'll come from practise and repitition. Well done :)

Hiya

I was amazed at the boldness of your deck handling, for such a young person too. I understood the cuts, but didn't make any difference. I showed the mrs, and being a fellow Camb. folk, she just said... amazing yes... but do you expect else little from a Cambridian... (or whatever that word was!!) She was stunned in all fairness.

I agree with the previous posts, laypeople definatley won't critisize your "breaks", and do little else than stare in awe. Although as said, unless there's a point to it. Would be great to do before you deal a real game of poker  I nearly got sacked for shuffling with one hand!! :o

Fantastic work, and nice song too :D

Performing these cuts to spectators you are performing magic to can bore them. However, if you were for example, sitting on a train and performing these cuts, they can WOW people and they might ask you to show them some magic!

Yes, that was the point - every single cut was totally false - the point of the end of the video was that the deck was in new deck order.

AHA! I see, I wondered what you were doing. Have you seen Sam The Bell Hop? If not, I strongly suggest you look it up. My personal favourite can be found on Bill Malone On The Loose Vol. 1.

I think you'll love it with all those false cuts. Well done :) .

Nope...I've vaguely heard of it but never seen it.

Is that the only place you can get it?

No, its a classic in magic and many people have published thier versions but I'm not really sure who or where. Bill Malone's is great though and there's plenty of other awesome material on that tape.
