I'm on twitter bmat10 I think. I check it nightly and mostly use it to promote my blog and I do get some good hits through it. I'm honestly not sure if it is under bmat10 or not and I'm at work so I can't check it.

You can find me if you link up with Dale as we follow each other. Also if you click on my blog (see my signature) you can find me through there. My blog for the most part is not about magic...although every now and again I post about magicians.

True enough. For a business, having a Twitter or Facebook presence is becoming as important as having a website. Or for anybody with a name/persona they want to protect.

I see your spelling and use of punctuation fits in with that of most 'tweets'.
Well done, young fella!

Anything which imposes a character limit so small that it restricts the ability to convey an intelligent message for no discernable reason is not something I am likely to use. We have spent so long developing our linguistic prowess, why would we do anything that prevents us from making use of it? I dont think I fully understand twitter. :?

I'm not on Twitter, and I agree that there is little room for extended discussions. At the same time, the restriction appears to be a challenge, and there are many interesting initiatives that use Twitter in a way that I think is quite witty.

Do we always need page upon page to say things, or is the message more meaningful if we are forced to stick to the limit (and thus to the essence of what we wish to say)?

NB: I am not referring to the guy who put some programming in place so Twitter registers his farts ;)

Oh, I love writing in 140 characters. I love the challenge of trying to fit what I want to say into a short space, which forces me to strip out the meaningless drivel to get to the point, or rethink the sentence structure or my vocabulary to use shorter words (something I aim to do in my writing in general). If I ever find myself using a second tweet or using txtspk, I feel I've failed

But that's just my opinion :)

I enjoy the challenge of using my vocabulary to its full, and ensuring that every last fragment of seemingly unimportant text has its individual purpose. Unfortunately, it is very rarely that I succeed. :(

You can tell that we are magicians, discussing how we best enjoy using language!
