Recently got hold of columes 5 & 6 so it's just the last two to complete the collection. Crammed with loads of great effects and the mental effects in these books are as good as anywhere else.
I can't understand why more dealers don't sell these books, they really have a bit of everything and like a more through version of the Mark Wilson book.
Illusions, card sleights, escapology, cigarette effects, coin sleights, mentalism, stage illusions... it's all in here and many of the effects I have seen peformed and updated by today's magicians.
With these volumes on your shelf, you'll never be short of ideas and new material. Quite underated. For the price of one of these volumes you could buy one Ellusionist DVD and these books contain so much more than you'll ever find there.

I know a company called Repro Magic offer it for about £120 from time to time and Keith Bennett in Brimingham sells the books as a complete set.

Other than that, you can buy the volumes individually from either International Magic or Davenports. Each volume is about £20 each with the last one being £27.

I think this is the original course that's different from the printed versions and not as good from what I hear. Book 7 is written by Harry Lorayne and is up to his usual standard of excellence and the final volume, 8, was compiled by Richard Kaufman. I don't think these two books are included with the course on CD.

The CD version contains facsimiles of all the original typewritten course pages by Tarbell and also includes a more modern font version. All the hand drawn illustrations are there as per the printed originals. It's certainly not as convenient as the proper printed ones but it's considerably less expensive. It would be interesting to compare both versions side by side and see if there are any differences.

From what other people have told me, there is a substantial amount that's different.
I have all the printed versions and although they are expensive, are worth every penny for the pure wealth of information in there. With these on your shelf you'd never have to buy an overpriced packet trick again as there are literally thousand of great effects covering all genres.

Worth the money. I have learnt a lot from Tarbell, not just effects, but priciples that you can adapt and use to create your own effects.

You can also purchase it from Magictricks.com who are listing the complete set for $185USD which converts to around £92 for todays exhange rate.

I don't know anything about this site other than they will charge you further carriage charges than their standard shipping charge if you are outside of the US.

If anyone knows if this site is reliable, please let me know as I am also very interested in this one.

Watch out for import tax. Wouldn't want you to get stung on a bargain.

There's no import tax into the UK, as books are zero-rated for VAT. The postage will be ridiculously high, though.

I bought my set from Repro Magic on one of their transatlantic trip deals.

Just for the record, Davenports sell Volume 1 for £16 and Vol 8 for £27, the rest are £21 each and they have them all in stock.

I saw a complete set offered fairly cheaply on ebay a few months ago, but again ti was from the US.
