Cheers.

Just out of interest, volume III is already coming together. It contains plenty of new effects, and shows how to exploit various "quirks" in our thinking to enhance their presentation. It's shaping up to be applicable to rather more than just Naked effects.

I've started using these techniques a lot recently, and I must say I never did give them the credit that they deserve.

Just the colour "from red to blue" I think is very good!

You'll go nuts over the new book. It has 66 priming categories including lots of wacky data cross-referencing colours in the appendix. You could play weird word association games with them with a sealed prediction in full view if you wanted.

By the way, when Naked Mentalism II finally launches, I want to sort out a way of offering a discount to TM members for supporting the concept so much. I think the way to do it is to get copies printed myself and send them out from home. Actually, thinking on, that would also be faster than people ordering from Lulu.

III?

Yup. A third volume. This one presents a set of "tools" for exploiting vulnerabilities in the way we think, and shows how to use them to resonate with the spectator's own beliefs.

Now, I know you guys are probably thinking, "yeah, it's NLP or Kentonism. So what?" Well, it's nothing to do with NLP, Kentonism, hypnosis, or other things like that. The tools are applications of genuine psychological research carried out in reputable psychology departments. The idea is to weaponise their strongest findings for use by mentalists, readers, etc.

Hey Jon,

any possibility of offering a discount for those who have yet to purchase Volume 1? What I mean is; an option to purchase Volume 1 and 2 together at a discount.

Thanks,
Rob

That's an interesting idea. It certainly makes sense.

Out of interest, what does an owner of the book need to prove in order to access the Naked Mentalism forum?

Just curious... :)

Access is granted to accredited members who own Jon Thompson's (aka Tomo) 'Naked Mentalism' book, make quality contributions in the main Mentalists Only area and who display a working understanding of method-free mentalism.

Assuming they already make quality contributions to the Mentalists Only area and display a working knowledge of method-free mentalism, I assume one of the mods will ask for proof of ownership in the usual way, e.g. "what is the third word on page 86?".

We can certainly pass on such requests but the best plan is to PM Jon direct, he'll take it from there and ask for the necessary information.

You just have to ask for access. Otherwise, how will I know you're interested?

For those without access to the Mentalists Only area and didn't see the announcement, Volume 2 of Naked Mentalism is with Lulu for a test pressing to check the printed layout. Baring natural disasters, the paperback will be on general release on Friday 11th July. Here's what Jerome Finlay had to say about it:
'Psychological forces and the use of statistical information remain among the most powerful tools in all of mentalism. It looks and feels like real mind reading to 'hit' on a piece of information merely being THOUGHT OF by another person. I personally found Jon Thompson's 'Naked Mentalism I' extremely useful and filled with outstanding work, material and information with 'Naked Mentalism II' being no exception! I would highly recommend both these works and consider them each in tandem with Banachek's wonderful 'Psychological Subtleties' series. These tomes are necessary and vital additions to the library and tool kit of any working mentalist.' - Jerome Finley
Now, discounts...

That sounds like a good idea. The ebook version is ready to roll so Talk Magic members who have a PayPal account can claim the following pre-launch discounts on electronic copies:
Naked Mentalism I OR II: £19.99 each (normally £24.99 each)
Naked Mentalism I AND II: £34.99 for the pair (normally £49.98 for the pair)

Just drop me a PM for details. I'll sort something out on the paperback front later.
