the single best book i have EVER read! i have learned so much on my first readthrough and im going to read through it again so I can really digest it. anyone seriously considering mentalism should definately get some money together and GET THIS BOOK READ. the skills this book present you with really do make it easy to think up your own routines.

This is just a post for my own ammusment really.

Anyone who has read Corinda's "13 Steps to Mentalism", which section of the book would you say is the best? This can take such criteria as quality of material, quantity of material, room for expansion with your own ideas, etc.

For me, i owuld say its the section on muscle reading. Just because, to quote Banachek, practically any piece of mantalism can be replicated through the use of hellstromism not including precognition. Also its fun to practice. But if it goes wrong, it can go badly wrong.

I don't have to time to post properly at the moment but I think this is the single greatest book on the art of mindreading ever written! I have sung the praises of this tome on MANY threads across MANY forums over MANY years and can't say enough goood things about it. It is the only book in my library that I have an intimate familiarity with and I really "know" it inside out and backwards.

Mentalists always say the book is their bible (to the point where it sounds like hyperbole and very cliché) but to me it is the absolute truth! I would give up every other magic book i own if it meant I could keep the 13 Steps.

Good. You can start by giving me back "The Lives of a Showman" which you got for free. I'd like to sell it again and actually make some money out of it. You only accepted it because your photo was in it.

Actually, there are 3 photos of me in the book. I wish my photo was in the 13 Steps!

I have just been in touch with Tony Corinda in the spirit world. He informed me that since you hadn't yet been hatched there was no opportunity to do so.

I can't believe that 2% of the people think that Corinda's book is poor! POOR?! Really?!

Well, I thought mentalism would be about psychology. Imagine my surprise...!

I bought this a few months ago, not quite sure if I was going to like the material in it or not. I'm glad I got it, the book is full of neat tricks, and very useful information.

I was amazed by some of the card tricks contained within the book, there really is some gems in there. There are a few lovely clean tricks, that for those that don't know the underlying principle, do appear very mysterious and beyond explanation. The red card routine is a fine example of this....and given some presentational touches, it could be passed off as anything from psycholgical to genuine mindreading.

Even if I only get use out of the card stuff in here, it's definitely worth it.

My copy of corinda came through the post about a week ago, I'm about half way through and 'Wow'. Here I was spending a small fortune on ebooks for my kndle when all I really needed was the 13 steps (unfortunately not available on amazon kindle though). While the books I got are really interesting such as naked mentalism and RIP, I have to say that the stuff in the 13 steps is brilliant and most importantly (from a novices point of view it is really workable). I can see how the book, written in the 60s is still influencing mentalism today. Even the marketing for new books uses the same language as Corinda (You have a miracle on your hands etc).

I am trying stuff I never thought I would be able for, over the weekend I used an eight kings chased deck (hope I'm not giving too much away) and 'used' NLP and 'body reading' to ascertain the card. great fun and it was on extended family members. They even bought my speil about NLP, eye access cues etc even though I listed off the cards at breakneck speed

If you are new to mentalism like I am and have any kind of interest, buy this book, some of the concepts take practice and learning but there is alot that you can do straight away, so while you are learning the difficult stuff you can have fun doing the easier effects and improving your presentation skills.

P.S. CUPs combined with instant download on sites like alakazam and theory 11 is very very dangerous - you have been warned.
