I bought a copy of this just before Christmas and I have to agree it's absolutely excellent.

It's the kind of book that gives you more than just the effects; it also gives you ideas. Your own ideas. 8)

The effects are very good. The real value is in the thought.

I have only the greatest admiration for this man, and I can forsee that in the future his name will be muttered in the same breath as Knepper, Banachek, and Brown (as in Derren).

Just out of Interest, Luke Jermay is doing a lecture at the Kaymar Magic Company in London (Upminster) on the 21st January - and tickets are only £10. (I already have mine), so if you want to see for yourself how well these techniques work then I suggest you pop along.

The details are as follows..

Wednesday 21st of January 2004
The Lodge
67 Corbets Tey Road
Upminster

Ticket prices are £10 which includes a light buffet and can be obtained directly through The Kaymar Magic Company:

189 St. Mary's Lane
Upminster
Essex
RM14 3BU

Tel: 01708 640 557

I will be there. Going to order my ticket now. I used to live just round the corner so it's nice and convenient.

See you there.

Finally got this book. I ordered it 2 months ago. The book arrived 1 month ago, but the post office somehow lost it. Fortunately it was clearly there fault and so they eventually found it for me (1 month later).
Well worth the wait :D
The book is excellent, although I probably wouldn't have appreciated it if I read it 6 months ago. I have already used some of the stuff (not so much the routines, but the suggestion - and some of the forces). It works.
I used it with my coin bending routine, as well as tried just getting a normal coin to warm up in someone's hand. They eventually dropped the coin :)
For me the first part of the book where he deals with the building blocks is the best. The routines are an added bonus - and it's great to see how to use suggestion in the context of those routines. In that sense it's a similar book to Banachek's "Psychological subtelties" - another book I've really only come to appreciate lately.

Difficulty- Like stated above depends on you. Some of these tricks require "huevos" though.

Review
This book is great. It's an easy read which is lucky because you will need to read it a few times to comprehend all of it. I have read it twice so far and am planning on reading it again after experimenting with a few of these effects. The routines themselves are all well thought out. Personally I will be using only a few of his routines because the whole "bizarre magic" is not my style. This book is still worth it though because of the techniques that you learn and can use to create routines of your own.

Overall

9.5/10

Only reason I did not give it a perfect score is because for me not all the routines are usable but that doesn't mean it won't work for you!

How much suggestion and influence is needed to pull off the aura trick?

The trick is mainly suggestion (the main technique is a certain type of suggestion). Personally I am not a fan of the aura trick.

Is it the method you don't like, or the effect itself?

The effect is great I just don't like how he does it. It's hard to talk about without spoiling sorry :( . I would get this book if I were you if you like effects like the aura effect, mainly because you have the tools to create your own effects. And In my opinion some of the other effects in this book are much stronger.

It still surprises me how much Luke has accomplished at such a young age…
Unfortunately for me and Blighty he seems to spend much of his time in the states, however I did recently find him on facebook and I was pretty happy to see he’d accepted my friend request. He sometimes posts new-news and upcoming show details, so I’m hoping any UK visits/shows will be posted in the same way. I’ll let you all know if I hear anything!
