I was in a very noisy bar last night and approached a table of five American girls who were all having a good time. I asked who was LEAST likely to be able to be hypnotised.

Once I had my girl I took her to one side and started to put her under. All was going great and I actually managed to lock her elbows. As she tried to bend her arms she couldnt so I took her back to the table.

As she sat with her friends I informed her that I would name any drink and snap my fingers over her vodka and tonic. I said 'whiskey' snapped my fingers and invited her to sample her drink. I thought this would be a nice gental follow on from the arms. To be blunt, it didn't work. I had tested myself by choosing the doubtful girl. That's fine. I DID manage to lock her arms.

I asked her how she fealt during the process and she said that she fealt really relaxed and that she could see how it would work. She also added that had the place been quieter, she may have gone under.

I'm looking forward to trying again and may actually film the results.

Nice work. A tad bold but that will surely serve you well.

I suggest you add a step or two between physiological locks and post hypnotic suggestions such as hallucinations etc.

Check our new free series of training vids. They cover much of the approach in parallel with Reality is Plastic and that on our DVD's to date.

It will also answer many of the questions I have not got round to answering here. I lose track of this thread every now and again, then come back and it has grown a page...so thanks for the continued feedback on my book.

Any questions let me know.

Heckler wrote:If it doesn't work it doesn't work, it's not a magic trick.

Start small, gain confidence, do sticky fingers and other suggestability tests to plant the seed in your friends' minds that you are a Hyponotist but also to improve your confidence. They have to believe in your abilities, but more importantly as Anthony says, you have to believe in them. Going straight to a handshake induction from nothing is rather like shaking hands on a first date and asking if they like golden showers.

I just shake hands with wet hands and say 'Sorry, I pi**ed on my hands and watch their reaction'.

Check out the first two parts of a three part article written by Kev here on Josh Houghton's blog.
The first will shine a light on the various hypnosis models. The second on the science. The third, coming soon, will outline the theory of Automatic Imagination developed at Head hacking.

Thanks guy's.

Recently Kev (the other half of Head Hacking) wrote a three part article about hypnosis. They are available on Josh Houghton's hypnosis blog (warning there is one pop up).

Part one considers some of the models of hypnosis. Part two the science. Part three explains the Automatic Imagination Model. I hope they are of interest to some of you here.

4 years on and still top of the page...

I got this book before uni, went to uni, got a degree, and have a career and it is still top of the page!

Most successful review ever, or just proof that RIP is hands down the best item on the magic(ish) market of the last decade??

My little book Reality is Plastic is five years old today. Thanks to everyone at talkmagic who has a copy and has been part of the Head Hacking adventure over that time. Special thanks to Beardy for starting this review thread! Drinks for life on me.

On cursory inspection this all seems to be standard waking suggestion tests which of course is as old as the hills. Doesn't anyone do stage hypnotism any more?

Hi everyone, I'm in a bit of a rush so I don't have time to read most of the reviews, but judging by the few things I have read, this book is more than worth getting?

I would totally agree with the reviews, i searched high and low for a good hypnosis book. i saw this book advertised on a magic shops website i was thinking about getting it but first decided to do some research... i spent a good 2 hrs reading loads of reviews and in the whole time i struggled to find 1 bad review, so took the punt and bought it and as said before.... THE BEST decision i made, its a fantastic book and my success rate with the methods taught is around 70% , by this i mean that 70% of the people i have tried this on it has worked!
