Andi Gladwins, The Master Pushoff

The Effect

This DVD teaches the Master Pushoff, the master push off is a technique of pushing multiple cards with no breaks or get readies.
"This one technique allows you to execute a perfect double turnover (with no breaks or get readies), an elegant second deal, double deals, palms, switches, third deals and so much more..."
This dvd doesn't really have an 'effect' as such but it does have some good tricks, routines and moves that utilise the pushoff in very clever ways.

Cost

£24.99 from dudethatscoolmagic.co.uk

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

It is very hard to give this one a difficulty rating as it not so much a difficult sleight or trick that uses them but a Technique that anyone could grasp over time. considering this i would give it a difficulty rating of 4. Although some may find it a lot easier and some a lot harder.

Review

This 2 DVD set was made by a collaboration of two major magic production companies, Big Blind Media and Vanishing Inc. This means that the DVD production values are excellent. Andi Gladwin is also a very good teacher and i think even a very beginner magician would be able to grasp the basics after just the first watch.

The first DVD is all about the move and its applications. to start Andi teaches the basic double pushoff, on the same DVD he then goes on to teach second deals using the pushoff, double deals, triple deals, third deals, multiple pushoffs of up to 5 or 6 cards at a time. There are so many things that the pushoff can be applied to, and the second DVD goes into this more.

The second DVD will probably the preferred one for most people as this is the DVD where Andi goes into the tricks, controls and moves that utilise the pushoff. one of my favourite controls on the DVD is the Tom Cruise control, this control allows you to control any selected card cleanly to the top of the deck. One of my favourite tricks on the DVD is Sticky Fingers, Sticky fingers is an excellent colour change where the card card seems to stick your fingers before changing into another card. there are a total of 8 tricks and 6 moves.

Overall

This DVD is definitely a great investment for anyone looking to significantly improve their card magic. As it will allow you, with time, to execute a perfect double turnover. Don't let the fact that it might take a long time to perfect put you off as for some people it does not. Andi mentions that Owen packard picked up the move after just a few minutes. and as a comparison i have been practising the move for 3 days solid and still have not got it down but i do feel that i am close. I would definitely recommend this DVD set to any type of magician whether you are a beginner or an experienced magician this technique will change your card magic for the better. out of 5 stars i give it 5 stars, this DVD is just top notch.

That's a great review Magic Mitch. The Pushoff is one of those moves that I perfect whilst sitting watching the TV a night and It certainly helps if the deck is fresh. It’s a great DVD and has sold well for us.
