I've seen Paul do card stuff in cabaret many times and he always used Waddingtons. When I saw him in Tamworth recently he was using Bikes.

I guess they meant that non-magicians in the UK tend to use Waddingtons and magicians tend to use Bikes.

Yeah probs, my bad, just can't imagine using Waddy's or any Bridge size card for that

I actually prefer David Blaine's Split Spades to Bikes

some say they are exactly the same, I would disagree

If you haven't tried the Split Spades I would defo give them a go

in fact I am going to Review the White Lions now!

A bloke in the pub the other night (Goose & Crown, Camden Town) performed with the Split Spades for one of the bar maids.

Even I, a magician very fond of gimmicks, didn't suspect that they were gaffed, despite that a few weeks back I read about them on the net. They were in fact a marked deck.

Just goes to show how fooling casual handling can be.

I then had a go of them, performed a quick Ambitious Card. They felt to me to be considerably thicker than Bikes. Very high quality cards.

I find the design on the back to be very ugly though. I like a more subtle pattern, I guess.

They aren't all gaffed, you can get a Stripper, Marked and Svengali version of the split spades but also normal decks with the odd gaff card i.e. double backer or Q of Spades holding 4 of Spades but in essence they are normal decks.

If you are not keen on the design check out the White Lions, they feel even better and have a really simple back design which reminds me of the Bee decks.

Yes, I knew they weren't all gaffed, but I've no idea why I posted about the gaffed cards. I think because someone said something about how you should use Waddingtons because people suspect cards that they don't recognise as being gaffed. I was trying to give an example of how people tend not to think about gaffs, even magicians. (Or maybe that's just me!)

I really like the White Lions. I think the other DB cards look a bit cheesy, in a way. Not quite sure. These have a classier look.

If they brought out a one way deck or a joker deck or blank back deck, I'd use them for Ambitious Card. Force one of those cards and get the spec to sign. Otherwise you end up with cards missing from the deck every time someone signs a card. I can't think of any other way around that problem. At present I use Bikes and force a blank face card.

Someone has made a White LIons ID and are selling on ebay

Unfortunately I never bought a brick of these so there is no way anyone is signing them

I just use Bikes for that, I'll use the same deck for my ACR, let specs keep their card and when I'm down to about 35 - 40 cards I will open a new deck and use the other for spares / tears

I heard Tally Ho deck are better, Is this true?

To me Tally-Ho and Bikes are the same thing

different design but same company, printers, stock and finish.
