The Elevator

www.masterofillusions.ca

$99.95 [Roughly £47]

Difficulty: 4 [maybe 5 to a lot of people]
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

With this trick, you really do need to practise. DO NOT buy if you are not willing to practise.

Review

I have read so many reviews aboit the Elevator and so many of the people that have reviewed it have not practised, that is why they moan about the effect. A lot of people keep saying 'oh, its too hard, do not buy it. I TOTALLY disagree and think that The Elevator really is amazing. I would have bought an Elevator 2 but the price is just too steep at the minute.

You Get:
1 Gimmick
1 Instructional DVD
1 Handbook with tips and presentations from Peter and other magicans such as Corey King.[You must register your elevator in order to recieve this]

The DVD is good, at times a bit pixely but everything you need to know about the elevator is on there. The handbook is good as other magicians explain how to improve the elevator and how to work with it in certain places, how to do differnt things etc. I think the gimmick is great and the whole trick is actually very simple, practise just needs to be put in to it.

Now quite a lot of people have been a bit sort of skeptic about this effect as the videos for both the E1 and the E2 are in the dark. I'd just like to say that this is mainly trying to prove the point that a light can be shone under your feet when you levitate. It can be done in any shoes, socks or barefoot. CAN BE PERFORMED INSIDE OR OUT! There is a good 75% angle, and looks amazing from the front and sides. This is the ONLY levitation effet where you can do a mid-air rotation, i loving doing this and it looks great! You are clean before, and after the effect and it can be instantly repeated throughout the day, making hundreds of people take your card as they have never seen anybody do what you just did right in front of them.

I think that the gimmick is very well constructed and will last a lifetime and is made from very high quality materials. The Elevator really is for serious magicians that want to add a levitation to their routine, the price may be a bit high but it tends to keep away the people that will like just try and download it off the internet. It can be bought from many other places for cheaper but its worth taking time to investigate into prices.
I truely beleive this is a very nice effect and hopefully if the price of the E2 drops i will but that too. I'll try and record some videos mf me using this trick and post them in the file sharing section at some point.

I can't really say much else apart from it does what ot says, levitate you several inches of the ground, leaving all of the spectators stunned.

The Score!

Price: 6/10
Quality: 10/10
DVD Explanation:8/10

OVERALL

8.5/10

The Elevator really is THE ULTIMATE street levitation around.

My quick video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtUqEzFukC8

Please read the about video section on youtube [to the right of the actual vid]

I recorded it quickly and i realise that the levitations are rather short. I'll record another vid sometime when I'm not meant to be doing homework and maje the time in air longer.

Comment section on there has been removed due to people always asking how things are done!

Can I just ask... if it's not exposing too much... what's stopping you staying up longer, is it strength required from a particular muscle group (eg. calves) or is it just balance. I only ask because I spend quite a lot of time working on my leg muscles in the gym and think I may be able to carry this off.

Thanks.

It's got nothing to do with muscle strength. It is practice. It is tough at the begining, but when you get it, you can stay longer in mid air.

Ooo-err, missus, purely in the interests of magic, of course  !

Thanks for the vid, I think we can take it as read that you weren't levering yourself up out of shot or hanging on bits of rope from the ceiling etc. I rather liked the Sonic Screwdriver bit - nice touch. Have fun!

 er yeah in the interests of magic of course!

Its more impressive if we can see your whole body during a levitation as for all we know you could have been holding onto something and pulling yourself up

Video was nice by using the flashlight presentation, but it would have been so much better if you stayed up for longer.

This does take a lot of practice to get smooth and not jerky, but Peter covers lots of tips to keep the learning process easy.

I also like Chance Wolf's Addition that he adds in the handbook.

As well as the original Elevator, there is E2. Which if you had the choice to buy either, it would be weel worth getting E2, as the gimmick works in the same way but it is a redesign.
It has been vastly improved withthe bulkiness problem, balancing, and can be viewed under your feet.

I agree it is a great self levitation but its not a messiah or anything, but it definately beats the other levitations of its kind.

Anyone around my age where large amounts of cash is a rare thing, I wouldnt buy this, if however you get quite a bit of money every now and again, then this should be in your range.
