Yup... running out of juice, now.

Anyway, I bought a bite-out coin the other day, and someone had already bitten it out...

...don't you just hate it when someone sells you a lemon???

Juice so you know, my personal favourite was the 'Lemon Entry'. In my opinion that pipped all the others. It definitely had more appeel.

Come on guys, this has gone too far now.

Time to drop the gags and get back to the thread - we might put people off...

I don't want to lement (lament?) too much, but I think the joke's worn thin and getting a bit pith-etic now.

No wonder Lemmongs jump off cliffs!

Anyway, sorry to seem sour, but don't worry, I won't get bitter - and I'm sure we'll be back on-thread in a jiffy

As that famous song goes "Let it be".

(wasn't that written by John Lemmon???)

Look, guys, I’m trying to finish up here ready for the big trip tomorrow and I’m spending more time reading this lunacy than anything else! I see you’re suggesting that everything which can be said about lemons has been said but, hee, hee, hee, checkout:
http://www.lemonflower.com/

and then, as someone’s already mentioned the delicious Delia, try:
http://www.deliaonline.com/ingredients/ ... 000152.asp

Have fun and remember – there’s always the Turnip.

Most excellent - the delightful Delia's got an entire page devoted to Lemons...

Now there's a turnip for the books.

And against the names of those responsible for posting all this mind bogglingly surrealistic brain candy are the words, ‘Senior’, Preferred’ and ‘Full’ members – Lord help us if any of this gets out into the real world!

(Mandrake gestures hypnotically, adopts the guise and air of a 1980’s Drama critic, declares to all and sundry that this is just sooo typically Pythonesque, accepts offer from Chris Evans to do Arts Show on Channel 5, sues makers when program fails to materialise, retires on huge proceeds, invests heavily in lemons ready for the day Delia arrives!)

Does it surprise you that you have so many postings to your names when this sort of thing runs away as it has? Not that I'm saying it's a bad thing though, those of us who are more firmly anchored in reality can give thanks that there are people on the other side of the mental balance just keeping us up!

Nick

PS I do think that a little more tolerance for those members of the board who tend to make short postings that are almost on topic is in order though (no names spring to mind immediately).

Great, thanks Nick.

(intentionally short post, not on thread or 'mentally imbalanced', and certainly not with intention of adding another post - but just maintaining a grip the last chain on the 'anchor of reality)

Excellent point, Nick, I agree.

I’d add that as the sub title of the Forum is, ‘ A great place for Magicians to chat!’ I don’t feel quite so guilty that all chat isn’t about magic. It’s nice to play silly b*ggers from time to time.

I’m acutely aware that we are almost at the same stage as the old Forum when I joined, with only a few ‘active’ members posting. Perhaps we should have a separate area headed ‘Stupidity’ or similar and keep all this nonsense in there?

Regarding the numbers of postings, this isn’t something I’m really too interested in – even though I know there are discounts offered at various stages – and, if you check through the membership list when sorted in terms of total posts, you’ll see there are loads of names on there who haven’t posted anything at all.

On the other hand, I would hate this forum to get like The Magic Café – that place is really scary!

Didn't mean to offend (if I did) nor did I mean to imply that your status as a senior member is due to prolific irrelevant posting, as you make more relevant postings than anyone else on the board. I was just making the point that those with less magical experience than us like to be felt to be making a contribution to something magical even when they can't give people as much advice as we can. I know that my very first post on the Old Forum in its first week of operation was only to make my voice heard, I asked a question to which I already knew the answer because it was the only question I could think of and I wanted to have been noticed by someone on the board before I applied for access to the magicians only area.
I am also not siding with those who do make pointless posts just to bump up the number they have made in order to seem more knowledgable than they are at a casual glance.
The mental balance part was meant as a joke, though perhaps it did not come across that way. I am afraid I find it hard to type stuff with the emphasis and tone of voice I would use whilst speaking.
So I humbly apologise for any misinterpretations of my last post in case there was any subconcious anger vented there, and in mitigation would plead that two very stressfull exams this morning probably did not put me in the right frame of mind for creative posting.

Nick

Nick

No offence was taken, and in the light of your humble apology, I myself feel the need to apologise.

My post was almost a 'mock/irony/sarcasm', which, I'm afraid is my own morbid sense of humour.

I think we're all here for a purpose, and the way there's a community building here is nice - there seems to be a common ground.

I agree that sites like the Magic Cafe DO take things a bit seriously, and after all, there's a lot of personality in magic. We're all just having a bit of fun here, and there's no nastiness or bad intent.

I am personally guilty of 'flaming' the pointless posts, but if you ask a few people here, I am quite a nice person really, and a couple of people 'flamed' publically by myself have received PM's which explain WHY I'ved acted that way, i.e. that you won't get secret access via the amount of posts, or indeed by the intelligence or length of your posts. I'm actually trying to help people.

I'm always happy to apologise if I step out of line, and because I type at the speed of light, I sometimes may say things which are a little 'harsh', without realising the tone of voice (as too, have you, evidently).

I will be quite happy to shut up, if that would be the consensus of the community here, because that's the type of guy I am.

And as for discounts... (as pointed by Bananafish)... I was not interested, really, and I was advised to use it! As for access to the secret area, I was granted that even before my posts reached 50, and if you look at the usergroups list, there are members in there with 0 posts.

I'm here for the ride... magic and mystery, especially the giving/receiving of knowledge are my paramount 'raison d'etre', but surely a little humour along the way won't hurt.

No love lost, I hope.

Nick, don't worry. First of all I sincerely wish you all the best with the exam results – just let us know how you got on so we can either celebrate or drown sorrows with you.

If you have a genuine love of Magic (as we all have, in various forms and degrees) then, bearing in mind the usual conventions and courtesies, just say what you feel like saying. As someone who works in Magic you will probably have a lot of useful stuff to pass on if you wanted to. You never know, one of these days we may all decide to have a charabanc ride over to Kettering and thrust a few lemons, sorry, beers at you!
