The Effect.
You hand a deck of cards to the spectator explaining that you aren’t going to interfere with them in anyway. You ask the spectator to deal the cards face down onto your open palm, and tell them to stop wherever they feel like it.

They truly have total free will at this point and can stop anywhere they like. Once they stop, and you have confirmed that they are happy with where they stopped, you tell them that you made a prediction before the performance and you reveal the exact card they freely stopped at.

Difficulty. 1/5
1=Even I can do it, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)
Very easy. This must rank as one of the easiest card tricks of all time.

Review.
This is one of the tricks I saw Peter Nardi demo the other night, and to be perfectly honest, I am a little disappointed that no one here has reviewed it before!!! This is Very Good!

In my opinion, this is an extremely strong trick. The deck is entirely handled by the spectator, and yet every time the magician will predict the card that the spectator freely stops at. Since I have only had it a few days, I have only shown it to a few people, but judging by their reaction (and what other way can we judge the effectiveness of a trick?) I can see this one being part of my general repertoire.

This is very effective. The only reasons that I have marked it down slightly is that the deck is not 100% examinable afterwards (but then this isn’t unique to card tricks), and that it can’t readily be shown to the same group of people more than once. (but then I was taught never ever to do that anyway).

Rating. Effect/item: 8/10, Quality of goods: 9/10, Value for money: 8/10

Bottom Line.
This trick will (as they say) “Knock ‘Em Dead”. It will be one of the decks I carry around with me. It’s not as cheap as some, but it is very very effective.

This is a great trick that I used all the time, because it Knocked em Dead. I sold it when I got Future Zone, which is the same effect except the card is in an envelope in full view the whole time.

Then again, Future Zone is about £25

I have just bought this trick and I am loving it. It does what it says on the tin. A really simple trick that packs a punch. I strongly recommend this.

Just out of interest, and without giving anything away, do you have to show your prediction to be on the card case itself?

I would love to see a video of someone performing this routine in the file sharing section ... sounds like a nice effect but just seems a little fishy, if i was a spec that didnt know alot about card magic then i would suspect a marked deck or somthing, at least some form of gimick.

The specs couldn't think that, as you predicted beforehand where they would stop.

To a certain extent - yes.

I love this trick. Anyone with any doubt over this trick should take a chance and buy it. When they've tried it, they will definitely have no regrets over buying it.

Even though I love this concepts to this trick, I don't like the presentation of it though because I've hate mentalism where you have a prediction which you clearly use everytime you do the trick. To me this ruins the effect of card magic. I don't know if any mentalists have justifications for why you use such a blatantly scripted and pre-meditated design for a trick, if they have I'd love to hear it.

Anyway, instead of the written prediction I show the card turned upside down in another deck and I present it like "i turned a card over this morning, and you know what, it's the same as the card you've stopped at." I then proceed to blame them for cheating wondering how they did that. I completely disown all responsibilty for the trick and blame the spectator.

yes, but they are ESP cards, so I don't see that it will matter?

I do this same thing with a combination of spectator control, deck switching, and a unidirectional assertion set of cardboard sheets. I have yet to be caught out. But i attain that purely to luck. (If you dont know what I mean by my abberation of diction in describing what i use, the first word should be a major clue. If you dont understand it by the first word then you probably dont know what I am talking about and should do research. I did this as an inane way of keeping the secret.) Thanks!
