Limewire review

What is it?
Limewire is a close-up card effect which will give you the amazing reactions you have always desired and is a perfect reputation maker. The effect is very easy to perform yet gives you some of the best recations you will get in your whole life of performing the art of magic.

The effect
To describe the effect in a nutshell a spectator picks a card from the deck (The cards can be borrowed). He then has the spectator remember the card. He places it in the deck and it is shuffled in by the magician and the spectator. Whilst explaining that most magicians reveal a chosen card by either mind-reading etc the magician says that he is going to do something a little different. At this point he pulls out an ordinary looking peice of wire, and it is handed out to spectators for examining. A lighter is then pulled out from the pocket by the magicican and is held under the wire. All of a sudden the wire starts to move under the spectator's very nose. The wire keeps on moving until two symbols in the peice of wire start to form. The magician holds out the wire for all spectators to clearly see that the two symbols are a seven and a heart, to reveal the spectator's card; the seven of hearts.

What I think
This effect is killer and yet it to make this feat possible you only need to use one very basic sleight in card magic, the rest is make beleive and acting. When you buy this trick it comes with the gimmicked wire, although it looks totally normal. The effect is perfect for when performing on the street or in resturants and pubs etc. Once the wire has formed the two shapes everything can be handed out for examining (there are no hidden gimmicks etc) to the spectators. You can perform this trick over and over again although it will have to be to a diffrent audience because the card must always be the seven of hearts. The effect is impromptu so there is no tedius set-up involved before you perform and evreything is so clean, the trick works because of the wire.

Where you can get it
I bought this on magicshop.co.uk for £10 but I am sure there are many other sites that have this in stock to sell, you may need to search though.

Its' down side
Although you only need the wire and a deck to make perform this miracle the shapes in the wire start to not form aswell when heated up. This is because the wire is contstantly being heated and then cooled therefore the shapes that the wire form are a bit uneven etc. However, I only noticed this happen after about 100 performances when I just purchased another one.

Overall
At the end of the day this is a very powerfull effect that is just perfect for small groups, and gives fantastic reactions. The effect is clean so there is no hidden gimmicks and no set-up whatsoever. Once the wire is formed you can hand it out, straighten it out and then go perform it agian. So, if you have a spare bob I recommend you go and buy this as soon as possible because you will love it for the unbelievable reactions it gets with hardly no skill at all.

How similar is this to the well-known "Wiregram"?

Wiregram is limewire. It's just another name for it. I forgot to mention that.
