I could not find a review of this on TM which surprised me. Apologies if I missed it. Aside from his books this, in my opinion, is the best release from Paul Brook so far.

A simple combination padlock is removed from your key chain; it is the kind that is so often used for gym lockers these days. It can be fully inspected and even a master locksmith would be happy with it yet you are able to perform amazing feats.

One-To-One

A person you are with resets the lock to a three digit number of her choosing, and then she locks the lock. All this is done with your back turned and without peeking.

The dials are thoroughly mixed and the lock is set down upon the table.

You ask the person to think of one of the numbers and through various 'tells', etc. you are able to name the number she is thinking of. This number is placed into the lock and the process is repeated three more times, until all of the numbers have been entered.

Not only does the lock open, but when the lock is turned around it is set to the selected numbers, and when the lock is checked it will only open at the selected three digit number.


With A Group

One person in the group is asked to set the combination lock to a unique three digit number and to keep it secret.

Now the lock is passed amongst the rest of the group who can fully inspect and turn the dials; making sure it doesn't just open on any number. After the lock has been passed amongst the group, another person is selected to hold the lock.

The performer now asks the first person to think of his selected number. Whilst the second person is holding the padlock on the other side of the room, the performer 'reads' the first person's mind. The performer then calls over to the person holding the lock and tells that person to place three numbers into the lock, by holding up fingers.

Once the numbers are placed within the lock, the person proclaims that the lock has indeed now opened. The lock is shown to the person who set the code, and they confirm that it is the number they were thinking of!

This effect can be performed anywhere, anytime, with any person!

No stooges, pre-show work, or writing down required!

I am a mentalist and not a great lover of props - especially locks. However clever they are, they scream gaff to me so I assume they will anyone else. However the effort that has gone into the how and why regarding presentation of this and the fact that there is no gaff make this a winner. Everyone I know who has got one is using it and regularly and getting great reactions. You can carry it on your key chain. It is a branded lock. It can play in an intimate setting, it can play funny (lock it to someone), it an be used with groups. You could use it on stage. I am certain you will love it and get value from it as I have.

There are not many things magic items I would spend 45 pounds on but this is a must have. I am happy to answer questions regarding the product and its uses as is its creator.

Well nice to have a review for those of us without access to the inner sanctum. £45 does seem a lot for the effect. It would be nice to see a few more reviews of it and how it fits into other routines.

I'll write me up a review soon enough. In short though, it is very clever, but not easy peasy. You will have to put some work into it. There is, however, nothing to find at all upon examination. I've performed it a few times, but still need practice in some respects.

I'm struggling with this.

My fingers are hurting and I need to get things moving a lot smoother. (If you know what I mean)

I'll give it a few more days but at the moment am losing faith a little.

It has had great reviews on another Magic Forum though

Keep at it. Put the lock on your keys and the keys in your hand. It eases the strain.

Thanks Anthony - I am trying that at the moment.

I'll give it a few more days - hopefully it will be easier.

I was hoping not to use it on a bunch of keys though - don't carry keys at the places I wanted to do this.

I'll keep at it as this has had very good reviews.

If it is really stiff, I am sure PB will replace it. Maybe some WD40

Hey All,

TargetZero, some of the locks are stiffer than others, you should be able to add it to your keys to ease up the lock. Simply remove it from the keys and take it with you when you perform.

If after 3-4 days you are still finding it very difficult I shall replace the lock for you; drop me an email.

Can anyone tell me is the pad lock very heavy? i used to use a padlock in my show got got fed up with carrying as big heavy padlock around

Nope - its a small locker style padlock - made of brass though, feels heavy for its size...sturdy rather...

Im a massive pb fan and this must be very good. Everything else i have brought from paul has been amazing and i use most in my repetoire.

I have one, and the padlock has a lovely feel to it. Unfortunatly, im not able to comment on it any more, as Paul kindly gave me the lock on Saturday in exchange for some thougts and ideason his next release.I say unfortunatly, because due to his rotten luck on the journey home, ive not got the instructions yet but it sounds well worth the wait, and i will post more thoughts as soon as i can.
