the light and heavy glass

well, ok - its a nice quality plastic tumbler...

you can get it from: http://www.martinbreese.com - and its £15

Sleights/techniques: 1-5, 5 being lennart green, i rate this as 1.

I say, i say, i say...
You show the tumbler/glass and place it on any object you wish, a dvd case, a book, the back of an otter...anything to act as some kind of tray...

you cover the glass with a borrowed hanky or a silk..maybe even a miniature turin shroud - you ask someone to lift up the tumbler...

and they CAN! hurrah for everyone involved...

you then ask them, if they believe in suggestion or mental influence...ignoring blithely what they say, you repeat the act - and this time, you stare at them intently - or indeed, fake a head tic and say "look at me" as you pretend to be derren brown in your head...

this time, they try and lift up the glass...and they cannot...oh no...

they cannot...not one inch...

they can then take away the silk, you can pull them out of their trance or remove the mental heebeejeebees from them...and once more...they can lift up the glass...

or indeed - you can pour yourself a glass of water and toast to their good health...

good evening to you all.

rating - 8/10

ok - i'll also add that i personally really like the effect, in that its a very interesting method, its a good quality tumbler - and to learn how to do it is nice and easy...

ive not used it in anger yet - but roadtested it out a fair few times since getting it this week - it can certainly act as a very nice convincer before any hypnosis and/or suggestion work too...

as with all easy methods, its all in the presentation...

I've not seen this routine since I was a kid, but I have always loved it!

I got mine earlier this week. It is nice I can see this being used as a good introduction for a whole host of themes. As said very simple. Tons of possibilities for presentations. They've sold out now, but more on the way.

Kids routine surely?

I'm guessing at how it's done but surely this wouldn't fool an adult audience? Good fun, good quickie, good laugh - but is it any more than that?

I'm seeking good reasons not to jump in with my usual twitching paypal digit .................

kids routine?

well, if you feel that way - good luck to ya!

I'm constantly surprised at what fools an adult audience...

presentation is the be all and end all...

OK Iain ..... I've been influenced by your thoughts and my overactive (but should be resting) paypal finger has been exercised .....

This made me chortle heartily.
Reminds me of the security warning at the beginning of Ross Noble DVDs.
"This DVD may not be watched in public spaces, including buses, coaches, trains, schools or if projected onto the side of a pig."

I tried that once but it didn't work. Couldn't get the wife to keep still.

i have this and yeah its a good trick if its used as a follow up to some simple bodily reactions which could be seen as hypnosis

for instance i start this trick by having the volunteer stetch thier arms out and interlock thier fingers tightly telling them to make it tighter and tighter touching each side of their hand as i say it the i tell them to point the two index fingers out (whilst still interlocking the rest of thier fingers) and then i go on to say that in a moment you fingers will become magnetised and the more and more you try not to let you fingers touch the more and more magnetised they become blar blar blar ...
then i tell them to bend thier elbows so that the two index fingers and infront of thier face and to consentrate then the two fingers will natrually touch try it now

once i have done this its easy to cliam to have hypnotic abilities then i move on to the light heavy glass as my next deminstration hope you find this intresting and use this with my compliments
