Review: The magician displays two sets of cards and a prediction. One pile is of last names of famous people and the other pile is of first names.
The magician shows some of the cards and from the first or last name the spectator guesses the celebrity.
The cards from each pile are given to the spectator to shuffle and the top card from each pile is turned over. Unfortunately the names don’t add up and the trick appears to have gone wrong. However the magician turns over the prediction card and all is well.
That’s pretty much it, really! This is almost self-working, there’s a possibility of the magish having to arrange an extra move but nothing too onerous. After the first part the volunteer(s) do all the work, genuinely shuffling to their heart’s content then the magish just turns over the two top cards and, finally, the prediction – cue for applause all round!

Weirdly this is promoted as an updated version of an earlier release. Check the videos below, the ‘old’ and ‘new’ versions differ very little, perhaps an updated back design and Frank Sinatra elbowed and replaced by Tom Cruise but that’s about all. Plenty of room for each performer to customise the patter to suit their style.

£20 might sound a lot for a packet trick but just sometimes it’s worth shelling out a few quid to get something as good as this where you can almost relax and enjoy the routine as much as the volunteers do.

Mine came from Alakazam where there’s a different video performance to watch but check out your favourite supplier for their price and availability.
