If you have worked out how an effect works then please keep it to yourself. It isn't big and it isn't clever to boast about how you are going to make it up yourself, and worse still posting hints however subtle you think they are (and believe me 9 times out of 10, they arent subtle at all) won't be tolerated.
I also would like to say that the amount of fishing that goes on (not necessarily in this thread, but in general) is also unacceptable. I do appreciate that before we spend our hard earned monet on an effect, we do want to know certain things about it, if nothing else to judge if we feel it is something we can perform, however the fine line between this and fishing for a method so we can see if we can make it ourselves is unacceptable.
If you genuinely wish to know more about an effect, please phone a dealer and ask them. That way it is priovate between you and the dealer and anyone browsing these forums is not going to accidently going to stumble across a method.

Posted: Mar 30th, '06, 18:39Instead of all this talk of specifics as to how this trick is done, I will put my two cents worth and say that I did buy this trick and it is a good one. As with most tricks such as these, presentations sells most of it. I think it is a clever method and it has worked well for me.
I'd recommend it for stage or close up style magic, but not walk around as the gaff is too easily disrupted in uncontrolled environments.

10p will not work (nothing to do with size!)
2p is too strong, therefore wont work (those who own it will know what I mean!)
1p - it might work, but the bottom line is it isn’t trapped inside the bottle forever, so not worth it for me!
What coins do you guys use?
Has anyone worked it with a 10p or 2p?

The Effect:
"You visually push a borrowed coin through an ordinary bottle. It is so visual people swear there must be a hole in the bottle. But the bottle is completely normal, free of holes of any kind. HAND IT OUT FOR THE SPECTATOR TO KEEP."

Difficulty:
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)
2-3 (really low 3, definetly a 2 with a bit of practice...really only one sleight)

Personally, I think this is a good trick and if you are into this type of effect you should own this. It is a bit expensive and the gimmick ditch is a pain but if it is practiced enough its gets a lot easier. You can use pretty much any bottle you would like, be it glass or plasic. You can perform it with the top on and the contents of the drink inside the bottle but i suggest that you pour out the contents first. By doing this you are also telling the spectator that the bottle is empty without actually telling them. After the coin penetrates the bottle, the coin is permanetly stuck in the bottle forever! This makes a great keepsake for you spectators. Give it to one of them and let them fight over it
Overall:
This can be a great effect if performed properly and at the right time. This can be handed out as a momento for them to keep forever. And the best part is they will never find anything at all besides the coin permanetly stuck inside the bottle of course . The gimmick is really simple and the initial setup isnt as hard as many people make it out to be. It might take you a while the first time to set it up and by a while i mean about 10 minutes or less. And of course it gets easier and easier everytime. Its a great way to truely mystify your spectators and a good way to end your coin routine. If you are thinking about buying this, do it.

Someone tell me this isn't the case because if it is there really should be a warning that you can't do the trick again if you do. Not to mention that if the coin is borrowed then the quarter really can't be inspected at all (or atleast 30-1 odds) if the person checked it before giving it to you, which they ALWAYS do.

Posted: Jul 30th, '06, 09:52Oh, sorry, one more thing. Is it possible to use Abyss to get a 100% real ungimmicked quarter into a bottle? I know the illusion won't work but for a different trick I have in mind where a 100% real quarter just needs to be trapped in a bottle.
