With abyss, the quarter is never gimmicked.

OK. Ignore anything I may have said about Abyss prior to this. I must have misunderstood my friend when we described the gimick. Now that I see it, it's pretty neat. I found it easy to set up (if I bought a large pair of _ it would be easier, the small ones I have are hard on the hands) and see no reason not to give the bottle and quarter away.

Rather then pushing it through the bottle, I used my most impressive coin vanish and then when they asked "now make it reappear" finished the last couple sips in my coke (watch the angle) and then coughed the coin up and spit it into the bottle.

No you can't use a signed quarter, but I did it today with one of those new state quarters with the different designs on the back. I didn't draw any attention to the fact other then to hold it with that side up. After the trick the one of the people said "Oh, look you can even see it's the same New York state quarter. I noticed that but didn't say anything."

Now if I can figure how to open a bottle without breaking the saftey ring, I'm going to get a quater in the same way (after boiling the quarter to be polite) and refill and close the bottle so after giving it to a friend right before doing a vanish so then next time they say "where did it go?" I'll just say, "you'll find it soon enough."

Yes. Once the bottle is set up you are ready to go! You can only use a bottle that has been set up for the Abyss.

Can it be signed and done? What you wrote sounds like a contradiction (no offense).

The product markets itself as no gimmicked coins, everything is examinable, and can be handed with the coin inside of the bottle for the spectator to keep everytime it's performed.

It can't be done with a marked coin if you go by the instructions, but as with anything in magic there's always a way if you apply some lateral thinking. I can't think of a way off the top of my head but that doesn't mean Rich hasn't adapted the system somehow to make it possible.

if you read the whole thing you would see that he didnt say he did it with a signed quarter

The way I interperet this is that he didnt sign the coin but used a NY state quarter and after the trick people could see that it was still a NY state quarter...

Rich correct me if im wrong..

I'm a little confused?
is this "The revolutionary coin in bottle" we're talking about?

Highly Visual - we'll give it that.
Ultra Quick Set-up - apparently not?
Incredibly Practical - a bit iffy, is it not?
Not Limited to Coins - Only 2p's?!
Suitable for a Multitude of Countries & Currencies - something about steel? :?

I'm a tad confused.

Just to say i don't have this, but i am looking for a CIB effect!

The CIB plot has been done to death to such an extent that you've basically got a huge multitude of options, all with various pros and cons. By and large the marketed versions all rely on either a gimmicked coin or a gimmicked bottle, with the relevant advantages and and disadvantages. A clever exception would be Passing Thru which uses an ordinary bottle and coin but plays as good as any and uses a gimmick which can be easily carried on you at all times.

Personally I think that the 'original' folding coin version is worth a look. It's in Bobo so cost wise it's negligible. The Abyss is nice but seems to have ended up at the back of the sock drawer for everyone I know that's bought it.

Overall, is the effect worth buying for the price?

The Abyss with the 'Revolutionary' title is brand new.
I just bought it and will post a review when I get it.
It is not the same one that came out years ago.
Both versions use ungimmicked coins and ungimmicked bottles and given away to the spectator with coin trapped inside.

You can see there is a difference from the first Abyss:

Bottle is factory sealed, immediately examinable, etc.
