Review
I actually bought this item over a year ago and forgot all about it. Then I came across it when surfing the web for T inkwriters as I felt not many people use pencils to write with these days. I then remembered it & dug it out. No idea why I had forgotten about it (it was still packaged up).
Anyway, after studying the handling on the CD 3 or 4 times & then using it in real life I have to say it's great. I have used lesser inkwriters before but always worried about the ink running out or getting the gimmick on or off (same with pencilwriters). Now this is solved - getting the gimmick on & off is easy to do at any time & covered by natural handling, you can write a whole page with the gimmick without the ink running out & then as soon as you reconnect it it self inks again & will last as long as the ink in the Sharpie itself. It's also very easy to replace the ink (just buy another ordinary Sharpie and swap the ink over - again the CD shows you how to do this).
The write up & CD does the performance with business cards which is a good way to hand them out but I find using a small notepad better as it's firmer & if you have a stiff cover it can be used to give extra cover by angling it up at 90 degrees.
Obviously the writing itself takes a bit of practise but not a lot. I find that cursive (joined up) writing is easier to do & faster than printing capitals. Numbers are even easier.
Reactions have been great & everyone asks me to do it again so I do the same thing with a different theme (first a straight mindread then on repeat I get them to mindread me - I send them a written number, they tell me the number & I reveal - interestingly they think it's a different effect & think I've influenced them somehow).
Only 1 downside I've discovered is that when in my pocket once the gimmick somehow got knocked off by other stuff in my pocket & I only discovered it a few days later when it had dried out & dried out part of the exposed pen. However after reconnecting the gimmick & having the pen vertical for a day or so everything is back to working order.
Overall
If you want to get away from using pencils & worry about how to get your current writers on & off this solves the problem nicely. A fantastic pen to carry around all the time - just what I've been looking for for a long time. It does take the same practise writing as all these type of writers do & is a lot more costly but it is precision made & should last for ever (as long as you don't lose it of course
). It saves the hassle of replacing pencil leads or the worry of them breaking.
Personally I'd give it 9 out of 10 (it loses a point for cost).
