The Effect

Many routines possible. For example. A spector freely selects any card or even six objects. They remember what they selected. You then introduce a black mat with various statements on (such as yes, no, maybe) This can be fully examined. You then pass them a gold pendulum on a chain. This can also be examined. The spectator holds the end of the chain as you ask them if they selected a certain card or object. They say nothing but in their mind they concentrate on yes or no. The pendulum swings to the correct answer.
Many possible routines (i came up with 4 in about twenty minutes!)

Review

Once again i was very imprssed with the quality of the props. The packaging was as professional as ever. I had this up and running after only a few minutes practise. There is no real skill as the pendulum does all the work for you. The routine you get with it is very good. You could make this as creepy as you wished. However saying that, i thought of a very good comedy routine doing this (hint: remember blind date ).
Very cool and old principle works this effect.
Once again the package took 1 day to arrive.

Thats an awful lot money to pay for a pendulum. I take it these are just effects based on ideomatic responses that pregnant women ahve been doing for years?

If so then you probably be better off buying the ESP2 deck and using the pendulum routine from there.

You could of course just hang a rusty bolt on a piece of string and save even more money.

I've heard a lot of good things about this and to be quite honest, most everything produced by Blackhart & Co.

I will point out that not so long ago there was a single Pendulum being sold to an exclusive segment of the Magic world, ungimmicked, for over $100.00.

No, it wasn't gold platted... it was availble in wood or brass and was a bit bigger than the average person's thumb. It is what a dowsing student might call a "hound" or "seeker" Pendulum e.g. it opens up to permit the operator to insert a billet with a name or whatever, possibly a small item that belongs to the person you are asking about, etc.

In the Victorian era such pendulums were well known of and used for locating lost articles and even solving crimes. I know of several stories in which crude oil was placed into such a pendulum for locating oil wells or in other scenarios, coal for coal veins, etc. (very common during the Depression era).

To most that aren't familiar with this field, the price of a pendulum seems rather obscure but when you start seeing one of "natural stone" for an example, you must retrain your perspective and see things from a jewelers point of view in certain instances as well as how the "shut-eye" will look at things. I know of pendulums that at first glance, seemed rather simple but sold for well over $1,000.00... so, it's like everything else in life -- our point of view is what lends things their value.

I've had this for a few months now, and I got to say that I am more than pleased with it.

I think on times, that we as magicians (pro's or hobbyists) sometimes look at 'tricks / gimmicks' with a too critical / synical eye.

What I mean is, that because we know how something works, and that its a simple 'secret' to the trick, we sometimes forget how it will look to a lay person.

I know I have with this pendulam. I didnt know how they worked before hand, and thought - Cripes this isn't going to fool anyone.

But low and behold - it freaked out everyone I've tried it on.

The point Im trying to make is - that we should realise that most of the population wont have a scooby doo as to how most things work, so dont be so critical if something seems too simple, as these are often the tricks that get the most response.

Yes it does. The whole package is excellent and i highly recommend it.

Nope, EXACTLY the same mat AND pendulum. You can unscrew the top half of the Pendulum to store whatever in.

That might mean someone is selling their copy. Oh dear!

Delude, I have not seen the pendulum to which you refer on ebay so I can not comment on it. I can only refer you to my previous posting. However it can not be 'exactly' the same as the Pendulum Plus sold by Black Artefacts as these are only sold by us, unless of course it is a second hand one.

In short you get a full professional presentation package that you can use in a large variety of situations which will earn you money - how much that is worth is of course a matter of opinion but you are most certainly not buying just a pendulum.

The cost of any item is a very different thing than its value.

I really would buy the pendulum plus but feel that it is just out of my price range. I think for something like this i'd go up to £23. Maybe i'd get it i nthe future.
