when you join...

just thought - would it be worthwhile, when people sign up, they get a pm or email, with links to the usual places - stickies, where to begin, advice and so forth?

that way we cut down on them having to post their questions, and dare i say it, it means we dont have to repeat ourselves?

so you'd join - get an automated PM saying:

welcome,

here's some links to some posts of interest...

and then 3 or 4 links to various stickies, or old posts that cover what books to buy, how to get over nerves....

that kinda thing?

possible? good/bad idea?

Idea good but idea not currently possible. Automatic responses to newcomers aren't within our reach unfortunately - in fact, apart from the registration e-mail, I don't think I've ever seen another automatic e-mail. We can do a mass e-mail to all or selected user groups but that's about all, sorry.

Of course you're special  ! It's a feature which can be selected or de-selected in Profile and can be over ridden in each message, so they tell me....
