Wow this thread is getting on a bit! Just wondering, did anything ever come of this badge idea?

The badge idea is a good idea, however getting enamel badges made is costly - more so the fewer you order. It is difficult to estimate how many would be sold, but without a couple of hunderd, I would say it isn't worth making them. A shame as it is afterall a sound idea.

How much would members be willing to pay for them?

£5?

Yes. I would pay between a 5 and 10.

the 250 badges for Psycrets were not too bad...

Same here - I'd be happy to pay up to a fiver for an enamel badge.

Problems is, getting enough orders. I think this badge thing would only really appeal to TM members who post quite frequently - you know who you are! At the moment, TM has 11,544 registered members; I don't know about anyone else, but whenever I log in to TM it is always the same names that I see logged in with the odd new member thrown in for good measure.

How many regulars are there on TM? Off the top of my head, I could probably name at least twenty. Even if we assumed every single regular actually wanted a TM badge, 20-30 is nowhere near enough to make it worthwhile. A shame.

(By the way, I can't believe this is the first time I've seen this thread! )

I too would join in this, but unfortunately there would be little chance of enough people making it a viable proposition.

I might not be what most people think of as a "regular member". I've been here for a couple years but my post count is low compared to most.

However, I do spend a good deal of time here, reading posts. If shipping to the States was not too expensive and the design was something I liked - I could see myself buying one.

For what it's worth

Yep second that, I'd happily pay a fiver or more. It's an excellent idea and I hope it comes off.

Could we not just set up a poll to see how many are interested?

In 2006, Magic Bunny had 2 designs of badge made.

They sell for just £1.50, plus P&P.

The people they used are:

If the cost of getting them made in the first problem, how about asking one of TM's sponsors to fund the cost?

Is the cost of the board more than the income of adverts? If not, maybe the board owner would like to pay out to get the badges done, taking any profit that is made.
Just a thought, but it is advertising the forum he created, so maybe worth asking.

I don't think this thread should be let to die. I think it is a good idea. And i'd pretty much pay any reasonable amount for one.

If people are willing to pay 5 pounds for one, then I think we should get a list together of everyone that wants one. Without a figure to work with, its harder to fix a price.
