Hello my name is Costas and I am a C.U.P.S sufferer  . I have been in denial for quite a while but as I drink my coffee out of my mirror goblet (as I have no other use for it) I only now realize that I have a serious disorder. My credit card bill is due shortly and I have no idea how I am going to keep up with my payments.

 It is funny how we convince others to believe that we can make money appear out of thin air or turn a $1 note into a $100 and yet we find ourselves constantly broke because we continually purchase tricks that allow us to perform this very effect.

I share your pain Costas

I've just taken out a loan to pay off my cards and have cancelled one card and left the other away from me in order to attempt to halt my C.U.P.S

Thanks greedoniz,

I am sorry to hear about your situation as I am sure we can all empathize. But remember admitting you are a C.U.P.S. sufferer is the first step to a cure!

I am now desperately attempting to get a system into place of where I set myself a goal to learn a routine or several difficult tricks that I have already purchased and practice them until I execute them flawlessly and then and ONLY THEN can I put away £50 for my next purchase.

Please note fellow sufferers; if anyone of you see a review by me in the very near future; know that I have failed you all!

P.S. I am thinking about some Bill Malone routines like Sam The Bell Hop. Does anyone know of an instructional book or dvd that teaches the cuts and shuffles in this routine a little more thoroughly? :D

okay, okay, it was just a quick relapse. I'm fine...

My C.U.P.S is currently tempting me into buying Spooked by Nicholas Einhorn and Martin Sanderson - The Business DVD.

I am also in the process of moving house and that's an expensive business so I need the peeps here to give me some good reasons for not spending nigh on 90 quid on magic.

Come on fellow C.U.P.S sufferers.

Mind you I dont want anyone telling me how good both items are as that'll just make it worse

greedoniz, take a deep breath and count to 10 slowly! Now strongly focus on all the items you have purchased in the past. Look at them lying around in your room. Do you feel like you made good use of them? Put on a DVD of some material you wanted to learn but never got around to doing it (perhaps a really cool flourish). Spooked is not going anywhere, in fact it will probably be cheaper in a few months time or something even better might come out. You have been around long enough to know this!

Come on greedoniz, we are all on your side!

Performing, if you're not already is a good a way as any for paying off some of the mortgage each month

I suppose that this is the only way that you may be able to justify the expense  , at least to anyone other than yourself as we know that CUPS suffers are the best at excuse making

heh, heh, heh.. Dat I keep telling myself that one too...

Last night i succumbed to paying for the charms of the Electric Touch unit (gosh it sounds really seedy when I put it like that)

I trembled as I typed in my credit card number and thought about all the lonely tricks that I haven't spent enough time with... Then I thought about the fact that I'd been buying cheaper effects over the last weeks, as a way of sating my CUPS so I wouldn't buy the thing I really wanted..

Finally rationalising my justification I took the plunge and ordered it...

But that really is it...

NO MORE BUYING FLASHY!!!

So please everyone, just review rubbish stuff for a bit... Dvd's like: '101 unambitious card routines', 'How to saw a log in half illusion', 'Escaping a paperbag - Revealed'!

(actually don't even do that I'd probably still be tempted)
