I can't do Wednesday either; in fact, I'm pretty tied-up for the rest of this month in general, so don't plan around me! I'm totally up for next month (Tuesday 19th August), though.

Was googling magic clubs in oxford and stumbled across this thread. I'd definitely be interested in meeting up, and don't live far from headington. I think I've just missed this month's..? Any plans for August yet?

As usual, you'll probably find me there already, either eating a veggieburger or else wandering around the pub getting people to deface playing cards. This month, I've mostly been playing with DAO stacks; though I was also performing at a wedding recently at which our very own Lawrence's "ILC" effect went down a storm: a dead-simple, self-working trick, but with the right audience (and the right presentation) it's a riot.

My name is Luis. I am from Spain. I relocated to Oxford one month ago. I am living in Summertown now, but will soon move to Marston. I'd like to know if you managed to organize periodic meetings in Oxford. I'd like to attend if I may. I have been an amateur magician for many years. My love is card magic and magic books. I studied magic in Madrid at the local magic club. I have written a couple of magic books and translated a couple of dozens for Spain's largest publisher.
I hope to get to know some of you soon. Pubs seem very fine places to discuss card moves and effects over a few pints!

Trust my luck: a week when it sounds like not only all the regulars but some new folks can make it, too, and I'm having to pull out at the last minute. Minor family emergency needs my attention, here; had to come home from work to handle it. So sorry, folks: hope you have a good night, and hopefully I'll get to come see you on the 23rd September.

A fine time was had last night with myself and Luis. We went through card handling and I learnt a gazillion things. I also realised I have to UNlearn a lot of my cack-handed ways. It's gonna be hard to unprogramme the muscle memory!

Anyway - next meet up is 23rd.

Luis is keen to meet more regularly: good idea, but I'll prob stick to once a month.

I also propose choosing a nicer pub. If I'm going to come into Oxford, I may at least frequent one with character. Any suggestions? Royal Oak? Victoria Arms?

And we should cast our net a little wider: we could post to DailyInfo?

Well really annoyed I missed it, crazy work unfortunatly.

How about the book binder in Jericho? Or the dew drop inn in summertown?

Vicky arms in marston is a good call. I'm positive there is a cut through for bikes from Ferry Pool road.

I love the Vicky Arms, though it can get busy!

The Dew Drop is incredibly convenient for me (as I live in North Oxford), but the Victoria Arms is more-convenient than Headington (saves me cycling up the hill!): either's good by me!

I'm Tricky Nicky and I've come across this thread searching for magic stuff in oxford, I'm moving up to Oxford in a weeks time to join Oxford Brookes uni and been looking to see what other magicians are up here.
I tend to do comedy magic and take generally easy magic tricks and make them really entertaining with my style of performance but I'm looking to try and do some harder and more skillful magic.
Anyway enough about me, when is the next time you guys are meeting and where?
