Peeks/Impression devices

What do members consider the best? I've tried quite a few but feel I am still looking for the ultimate - natural and straightforward.

I used a "thought transmitter" for the first time last night.. and couldn't read the word written to save my life! It's put me right off it! Which is a shame.
I find that the problem with peeks is that you can't really practice or rehearse it all that much.. you just have to go for it!
Sorry if this post didn't bring much positivity to your question!

The most obvious answer is that it depends upon what you are doing!

There's a difference between, say, PS work and a real-time, one-on-one bit of mind reading.

Then there's the question of whether you want to introduce a gimmick at all. At a recent mentalism meet I attended, billet work was used (mainly Acidus Novus). No wallets, no boards.

Are you dead set on a gimmick of some kind?

I've used the Thought Transmitter in the past but found it sometimes difficult to read, as Voodoomick has stated ( a tip for that mick is draw a circle and have them write in that! ) But also found it wasn't always suited for venues where the lighting was a little subdued

I now use the Stealth Assassin all the time. It's a lot of money, but if you're serious in doing mentalism this is THE finest wallet on the market, in my opinion!

I dont have stealth yet so I cant comment on that, but have used transmitter numerous times. If you stick to symbols or numbers with the transmitter, I honestly think it will be hard pressed to beat. The reactions I have received are amazing and its pretty much totally examinable, which I dont think the stealh is(correct me if I'm wrong).

The stealth isn't as examinable as the Thought Transmitter, but looks more like an every day item. However, used properly, it shouldn't even occur to the spec to examine it.

In fact, with the stealth assassin, on more than one occasion they actually forget there was a wallet in play at all

john riggs boards are the best imo...

outlaw wallet is simple and beautiful...

or, just mess around with some c****n-paper and some envelopes and small notepads...

i've got my own billet impression device, that i managed to fluke in the making of them, that doesnt wrinkle up...

anyway, john riggs or the outlaw...i use mr riggs stuff alot, if you need the peek real-time, you'll have to come up with some natural movement to cover though...

I Suggest the Master billet course that teaches peeks a pleanty. If you want to learn non gimmicked peeks. Rather then fancy wallets and the likes.

I have thought long and hard about getting a Thought Transmitter, but the expensive b*******s you have to order from the States puts me right off.
I'm tempted now to go for the Outlaw wallet as I have heard nothing but good about it.

Freddie

Transmitter is around £30ish and available from Alakazam here in the UK.
Its well worth the money.

Thanks, I know you can get it in the UK, but I understand the "refills" are special ones only available from the US.

I warned Lord Freddie off a Thought Transmitter. I was very disappointed with certain aspects of the product (which I don't think should be discussed on an open forum). I was quite a fan of some aspects of the Transmitter, and it's pretty good...when it works (and I'm not talking about the need to draw circles, or the like).

I prefer something that is:

Less tricky about venue.
Is always going to work (not quite the same issue...)
Versatile.
As normal looking as possible.

Something like the Stealth Assassin Wallet, or the Outlaw Wallet fits my needs. In fact, I rarely use my SAW for peeks these days; I find its other functions much more useful.

Davenports Magic in Charing Cross in London used to do the refills a few years back. I've just done a quick search on their website and although the Transmitter itself is there, the refills aren't mentioned but it might still be worth giving them a call to see if they do them.
