Custom Expanded Shell

Hello,

I've been using £2 coins with an expanded shell for a little while. But I'd like to use something a bit bigger.
I have an old solid silver Crown. I've been struggling to find an expanded shell for it... Does anyone know if they are sold?

Or, is it possible to get a shell custom made if I supply the coins? Either by a gaff maker, or is it possible to go to some local business and describe what I want?

Thanks,

Sam

A quick look via google brought me to this guy

don't know who he is though or if he has what you want, but might be a good resource. He is in the States though.

Thanks bmat. I've heard good things about Todd Lassen gaffs.
Unfortunately I've also heard things about his prices... And I don't think I can afford them.

Someone put me into contact with I guy in the UK who has offered to make a shell at a very reasonable cost.
A friend of mine vouched for him and the quality of his work, but I will report back when the shell is in my hand and I'll let you know how it is!

So I got some coins made.

I contacted a guy called Ronald Davies.

Well he has done some beautiful work, making me a custom shell for a set of crowns.
See the photo for the results. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for any custom coin gaffs.

He was very honest with me, turnaround was shockingly fast, and the quality is superb.

I bought my own coins and then sent them off to Ron so he could turn one into a shell.

Thanks for the update, can you indicate the sort of cost involved?

Well I will say that it was a very reasonable price.
As we have a good mutual friend he made the shell for me at £20, but a similar job would likely cost a little more than what I paid.

My advice is to contact Ron for a quote, he is really friendly, offered me great advice and was willing to chat and help above and beyond.
Tell him what you are after and I'm sure he can help.

I bought the original coins myself, and each of the 3 coins cost me £20 - £25.

His email is: ron-davies@hotmail.co.uk
His facebook is: https://facebook.com/ronald.davies.37

I advise contacting him on facebook messenger, as it is easier to chat or discuss what you require.

Ronald Davies is a great bloke to make your shells, and other coin related stuff. Ive also had a couple of items of him recently. Well worth the money, and he's a right nice bloke. 8)

Those prices seem very reasonable for a custom job.

Good to hear the positive comments, perhaps we should start a 'Recommended Supplier' thread one of these fine days?
