Hi, can anyone suggest some effects involving rope that are not the usual cut & restored, ring on rope, prof nightmare plots please? I've been tasked with doing something with rope at a local society but I think it could do with 'an edge' which is currently beyond my tiny brain. Anything that will avoid the evening being full of similar effects really would be handy.

Hunter's Impossible Knot has been my party piece for over fifty years.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_iJUIZhfRgGet hold of a copy of SW Rope Magic by Karl Fulves. You'll find the Hunter Knot in there, and also a superb routine called Miller's Sliding Knots. You can do both with the same rope.

If you can find it, "The Dennis Loomis Knot Routine...Plus" is packed with rope tricks (non-magic tricks, like tying a one handed knot in two different ways), including his full rope routine that he used professionally when compering. I believe that it's precisely what you are looking for.

Not sure if you can still get it but T.R.A.N.S.P.O.R.T by Steve Gore (there's an old review under that title somewhere on here) is a rope routine which is well different.
Edit: Just found the review at
