Hi Luke.

Unfortunately I am working Saturday, but it's a little sad to hear it will be your last lecture? If I may be bold enouh to ask, why is that? will you be concentrating on performing?

I only ask, as I have seen you lecture twice so far and both occasions have been nothing short of amazing. You have some great ideas and insights that are always worth listening. It will be a shame to lose that.

How about it will be your last lecture for a while? :) :)

best luck with saturday and your next project...

Several reasons. I am working on new material. I have a new show that I am performing that i predict will be generally disliked by the majoirty of mentalists/magicians that see it. It features several side show effects such as walking on broken glass and eating glass, it also features some stories of my tattooing background and is performed with the tattoos on view....its a fairly big departure for the most mentalists.

Anyway I enjoy lecturing but have to ang up my boots for a while to do other things. That said maybe one day in the future I will come back with a lecture. The lecture on saturday will feature somebrand new material that will probably only ever be seen at this lecture.

Thanks for the interest,

Luke Jermay.

Luke, having had the pleasure of getting very drunk with a local tattoo / martial arts specialist on a number of ocasions, i would think that your new show is going to be very good.

They were very interesting evenings. I would do a couple of effects, then he would show me pressure points and how to knock someone over with one finger.(normaly my flat mate, because he was sleightly smaller than me :D ).

Well....my background is in tattooing. I was a tattooist and use it as a presentational premise during the show....as well as the idea of controling pain.

The show also looks very different to everything else due to the tattoos being out etc....(I have 2 full arms and many that can't be seen)

I recently performed it at The Cafe Royal (in a more basic version due to the room) and someone decided that I was "dragging mentalism into the gutter" by using the tattoos and having my friend The Space Cow Boy - an amazing side show worker from OZ (he performs in The Happy Sideshow) supporting me.

So...I am prepearing for it to be disliked by performers...lol

To me the side show is a truely magical place and the material can often work very well in a mentalism set.

My show is no more about me as a person...much truth in the show. Which is better for me at least than trying to play a character that I am not.

Luke.

Sadly, I can't make the lecture either, but it would have been great to have gone.

Personally, I like the sound of the new show. I'm sure you will get some people who don't like the new direction you are taking, but then you've had critics of your material before.

Good luck with it.

I would very much like to see this new show some time.
Its interesting to see that the last 12 months or so, have obviously been a learning curve that's paid off.
The tattoos are impresive, going by the photo in Building blocks!
and, as for being disliked by other performers, So what.
This aproach did nothing to harm Simon Drakes career . Who knows, ten years time, Secret Caberet 2 will be on and you will be there, in the leather, surrounded by bald female dwarfs.
:D

( jeez, what did they put in my tea this morning?)

well....due to the reaction of the new lecture I performed on saturday I am doing one more time...then i am off for a while.

I will be lecturing at The Escape from The Asylum convention on Nov 7th.
I will also be launching my new limited edition book on the same day. Its called Coral Fang. It cost £30. When ts gone its gone its gone. It has what I consider my most mature material to dat within. Anyone attending that can tell me why it is called Coral Fang gets a free copy!....

It will be a nice fairwell as it was the first major lecture i did.

The off with the new show....I will return back to lecturing at some point....but for the moment after that I will not be able to do many if any due to other demands...hopefully one or two will fit into the right dates...

when i did stand up at the slough tattoo festival last year, i did see a form of tattoing, which used a long bamboo stick, and i imagine that the point,( which thanks to blood, probably could be thought of as Coral in colour), could be refered to as a coral fang. Either that, or you just like the goth/punk group of the same name.

Im exteneding the offer to the 1st three people that tell me the right answer.....oh what fun ;)

ok... one last try..... theres a band by the name of "the Distillers" who have an album called "coral Fang (blood artwork)" so is this in reference to your tattooing past?

so so so close.....and yet still so far ;)

Getting warmer as they say.

Heres a quick heads up for everyone on th new book. I am now taking orders for it.

I have just finished writing my third book. This is a book that sees a departure from the use of suggestion in mentalism, but rather documents 8 sure fire effects using some devilishly clever new principles.

The book contains 8 new effects, including Touching On Hoy and The Dangerous Opener from my recent lectures.

I am running a special price for those people who order the book from me. The book at £30 P and P included. This book is currently and for the foreseeable only available from myself.

If anyone would like further information about the book then please feel free to email me for a FAQ’s sheet including full descriptions of each effect and ordering instructions etc.

I can be contacted at:

luke_jermay@yahoo.com

I hope this was ok to post here. (Admin if not then please feel free to delete it)

Thanks for your time,

Luke Jermay.

Hi Luke,

You're new book sounds fascinating, and I really feel I deserve it to myself to have the complete collection of your books, so I will be emailing you for a faq sheet.

When do you think it will be available?
