masked magician secrets never to be revealed

PostPosted: Aug 16th, '09, 17:06

i dont know if this has been covered somewhere before if there has been accept apolagies and mods feel free to remove.

i was watching the masked magician on tv the other day and i think he has now gone too far revealing tricks i understand that people can say if they dont like it dont watch but how do you know what he is revealing if you dont watch as someone will say i seen the secret to this on that masked magician prog so its catch 22 as they say

magic is a secret that hides its secret and i think that stuff like this and other sites that reveal magic should be took off

even old secrets are still the best even new ones too but the secrets no matter how big or small are still in the art

eventually i think that magicians will not even reveal there secrets to other magicians if this carries on cos magic has its own legacy

Congratulations. You add nothing to the forum whatsoever. Why are you a member? All your posts ever consist of are sarcasm or anti-card rants that nobody cares about.

Is the Masked Magician still making TV programs or are these just the re-runs of the original series?

And from what I can tell, apart from voodoo ash and the balducci levitation, nobody remembers a damn thing from those specials.

This is an old and much debated topic, we all know that. I did find it annoying to see that in the latest specials he was revealing marketed effects like Prohibition. Not that it matters in the end but you'd hope he'd stick to illusions that seem to have been made specifically to be revealed and couldn't be performed anyway other than in a tv studio, which was what the last one I saw seemed to consist of.

The only person liable to be affected by that is Criss Angel.

he is revealing stuff that is harming the magicians out of there livelyhood magic is an art that opens the mind to people to let them think anythin is possible

he is revealing tricks like jeff mcbride kundali rising effect and also walking on water chris angel effect but he does not have the rights to reveal such secrets

everyone has there own opinion of what they think but i am just stating that people and magicians still love magic and appreciate the art for what its worth

Revealing packet tricks or signature stuff is a bit off, yes - if he was to come out and expose the snap deal I'd be more than a little annoyed seeing as I use it all the time.

I think you might expect a little much of magic - it is an art, but is not so fragile that a loser with a stocking on his head can bring it to its knees. If somebody really wants to know how an effect is done, it's easier than ever to get an answer - YouTube has virtually every magic trick ever released on it, with most tricks either outright explained or performed so badly that you'd have to be brain damaged not to get the method. If you're worried for magic's secrets, the masked magician isn't the one that should be keeping you up at night.

But that said, even with YouTube and all that stuff, it doesn't really make a difference. Most people don't like/care about magic enough to want to know how it's done, and the ones that do either forget the details or become magicians themselves.

And as for Criss Angel's water walk, did that really need exposing? When he kicked his shoes off he sank two inches, for god's sake. The man's a cretin.

people revealing on youtube what if people reveal tagged by richard sanders or identity or even the most saught after secrets i know there are many ways of doing the tricks like the cut and restored rope or the billswitch ( which was revealed on masked magician) but the time and effort magicians put into refining there tricks and getting some recognition for it is a little disapointing when it does get revealed people on you tube who are wana be magicians that do do the tricks on there seem like they just went out bought the trick learnty it for 10 mins or so and put it on as to say look at me look what i can do it is somethin that does tick people off

Val started doing new shows revealing actual methods this time around... I think it got off the ground a bit over a year ago in that he asked if I wanted to help him out... I passed... though he's an old friend, I do draw the line in some cases.

I believe the new shows are on the WE Network or some other off the wall cable show.

Here's My Consternation Over The Fact...HOW IN THE HELL DID YOU KNOW IT WAS ON AND WHY WERE YOU WATCHING IT?

Few recognize the fact that a huge number of those viewing and encouraging shows like this being aired (including the YouTube idiot's gallery) is our having constant threads like this one and not just raising hell over the exposure, but awareness -- curiosity over the fact that something "new" might be getting exposed. The result being that "we" run to watch it, which boosts ratings and as an end result, encourages the money grabbing production teams to make more.

SHUT THE F(&*& UP PEOPLE!

The more we IGNORE it and stop empowering "them" with our rants and and faux tirades the quicker they will realize that there is no longer a viable market for it. After all, there are those out in this great big world who simply love to stir the proverbial pot. Especially when they know that we really can't (and wont) do diddly to stop them.

Sometimes its wisest to just admit that you are powerless and let the issue pass while you get on with your own life.

:!: and before it is said, I'm not saying that we need to throw in the towel, only that we need to stop making it an issue. If that stops fewer people will run to watch. It's that simple.

We should treat this program the same way we should treat these spam buy-our-Nike-trainers threads that crop up from time to time - just completely ignore them.

Incidently, before comments are made re, the coin sleights.
At the time this was shot, the back palm, and other manipulations were usualy exhibited on stage by performers, as an exhibition of their skill.

Those short films are fantastic.

The thing is, most people will never remember how these effects work. And even if they do, don't be frightened about people knowing how your effects work, what's the worst that's going to happen, they'll blab when you're performing. If that happens, just smile and move onto abother group of people.

Masked Magician, youtube, all those things don't really matter and only a very very small amount of people are going to remember what they've seen anyway.
