Hi guys,

This might seem a bit of an odd one, but, does can anyone help me with trying to find out where David Devant's (I'm a bit of a fan) grave is? I'm pretty sure it's in Highgate Cemetery in London but can't find where exactly and the cemetery is huge!!

Hope this doesn't seem too weird! :D

Thanks!

Tom

Hi and welcome, it's not a weird idea at all, I went to Edinburgh to find the grave of the Great Lafayette a few years ago!

Acccording to findagrave.com his grave is in Highgate Cemetary West, hope that helps!

What is weird is going around the country to take pictures of the graves of Jack the Ripper suspects! :?

Hi Tom,

The grave number is 161670 in square 23 in the dissenters section. Apparently it is not accessible by guided tour as it's difficult to locate but as Mandrake said its in Highgate cemetery west.but you should be able to locate it with these details.

It is tended to by The Magic Circle so maybe give them a call and they may be able to help further.

Good luck

Regards

Steve

You know there was actually another David Devant who was a magician, don't you? Also deceased. I vaguely remember he was from South Africa although I may be wrong. I actually set eyes on him once at a convention. Tall man with a suntan as I recall. Yep. He was a professional and his name was David Devant. It may even have been his real name.

You're not thinking of Les Levant by any chance, Mark? I saw him on a cruise in the Sixties.

Nope. David Devant. He died in some sort of crash either plane or car. Tall guy as I remember. Not Les Levante. I have seen Les Levante perform in his later years.

Hi guys! Thanks so much for all the replies - really helpful. It's definitely David Devant I'm looking for and now I might be able to go visit! I'm trying to go to see some of the guys that my Granddad was a fan of so this should be a good start. I'll let you know how I get on!! :)
