I agree with the review above , but would just add that fingers and bill can be left a little grubby. Hopefully that doesn't give too much away.

I agree totally that this is another very strong trick.
The only thing I'll add is that as far as english money is concerned - the five pound note is the best.
It works equally well with all US money however (notes)- but that doesn't help all us english bods.
Still, a marvellous trick.

What's the effect then?
Cogito, ergo sum.
Cogito sumere potum alterum.

I just want to point out that any discrepancy in the gimmick should not typically be cause for alarm. That portion should esssentially be hidden from view in the routining.

Russ – as you seem to be a regular visitor (and most welcome too!), can I ask if you think it would harm the pencil if the 'work' already done on it during manufacture were carefully extended a little to cater for larger foreign currency notes? If it’s OK, perhaps you could incorporate a small change in future manufacture to increase the start and end point of the 'work' to increase the size?
Just a thought!

Also I beleive the varnish team alluded to earlier would also help.

There's nothing worse than a mucky fiver, is there?! If this routine is done with the usual borrwed note then it has to go back unmarked so the tinted varnish idea is well worth incorporating.

I totally agree. I know that to some extent things can be covered up, but it doesn't half make it easier to have things fit.

I think there's a real possibility here. The thickness of the pencil is important and I've seen some larger than usual colored drawing pencils which are about the same thickness as the one provided. The advantage is that they also have a hexagonal body much the same as an ordinary HB pencil which might help with the 'move' to show the two side of the note as you can keep track of where your fingers are. A little work with a junior hacksaw (or a band saw if you're rich!) and it might just work.
As She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed has a long lost of household jobs for yours truly, I doubt I'll get round to this for a while but I'll get there one day!

Chaps...
This thread is starting to exhibit signs of giving the game away...
You need to edit your posts a bit, considering this is the PUBLIC ACCESS area. I know that it's a long shot for anyone to work out the secret, but there's some quite explicit dialog here...
Please sort your posts out, I don't want to have to go through them all and moderate!

OK, any and all future comments via MO section - Russ would have to make some sort of application though!
