Review

This is a classic 3 card monte routine with a punch finish. You can choose whether to tell a story about the 3 card monte or whether to have the spec try and guess where the "lady" card is.

For your money you get 3 cards (obviously) and instructions with photos printed out on 2 A4 sheets. The instructions are fairly simple to follow and you should be performing this with confidence after a few practices.

There are 3 stages to the monte and each time the "lady" (Ace of Spades) turns up where you dont expect it to be. Beginning with a simple showing of the cards and mix up you make it obvious where the AS is. Its on bottom when the cards are face up and on top when cards are face down. You now spread the cards on the table and it should be fairly obvious to the specs where the AS is. You reveal it isnt after a magical gesture and show it has actually jumped places to the centre. Cue surprise and overhand shuffle.

Next you say you'll put the AS down first, place the AS down, show the other cards to be the red aces, place a red ace down and clearly show the remaining red ace before placing this down too. You demonstrate that again the AS has jumped places. Cue amazement and another overhand shuffle.

Finally you say you'll make it easy and put a losing red ace on the table leaving only 2 cards. After placing the card on the table you show you have a red ace and the AS in your hand. You place one card in each hand and pass one over the other and then back again. After a small amount of patter you show the AS not to be where they thought, it has changed to a red ace. Thinking it to be in the other hand you now turn this over to show that it too isnt the AS but is the Ace of Hearts. Finally you reach to the card on the table and pick it up. Slowly you turn it over and reveal that the AS had jumped ship altogether and was in fact on the table all along. Cue rapturous applause, some bloke you've never met buys you a drink and that fit barmaid asks you to wait around for her shift finish

Overall

Very Easy to learn, the same cover is used throughout the trick but in a different way each time. When I was learning this I initially got it wrong but still my girlfriend didnt suss it out!!

Cheap, quality, effective card magic from a man we all admire. 5/5

I got this, too, and while I largely agree with Jordan's review, I'm not convinced that this is any better than Skinner's version (on which it is based) that I have been doing for years. I say this only because if you already have the Skinner routine, you probably don't need this one, too--it is virtually identical.
